The first game was broken but I believe an upgrade in gameplay should fix the game. The online was a lot of fun and had a lot of potential, though.

Slightly different
WKC was collaboration between SONY and L5... It was talk uop to be SONY's defacto JRPG series and when it came though it wasnt a bad game it didnt live up to the hype..which is why its getting the PSP treatment( second class in asense)
Demon Souls is more of shocker... This was nevr anticipated to be as big as it got...sony even admitted regret about not not taking DS further
one was anticipated by SONY to be big but obviously failed but the other wasnt.
If it releases in the UK with the remasted original, I'm almost definitely getting it, the value here would be amazing
SCEA refuses to localize shit.
If they weren't in control of Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica, they'd probably be my least favorite branch SCE by far.
Hell, I think they already are my least favorite branch, despite Uncharted.
At least we're getting the game though. Hopefully they'll use all the work SCEE is putting into localizing it. Not sure if SCEE w ill be hiring the same guys SCEA got for WKC1, though.

It is releasing here in UK, or atleast they've said EU since they announced it on the EU Playstation Blog and since we're part of EU I assume we're getting it, like I've said I'm SO excited for this! Gonna' pick up White Knight Chronicles: Origins too (The PSP version) since they come out in the same month! Woo woo! |
oh ok, thanks for that, I'll only be getting the PS3 version myself, if I have a choice, I'd do all my gaming on consoles, don't like the feel of the PSP enough to warrent multiplatform releases (this is pretty close to that)
hopefully this will sell as good as the first, and this better be reviewed better too, Famitsu gave it 33/40 for the sequel compared to 29/40 for the original, but they've been very inconsitent with review scores this generation

On topic: I wonder why Sony isn't publishing it in US... they're doing so in EU, right? Since it was announced on the EU Blog that it was coming here, I can only assume Sony is doing so.
Oh well, atleast the rest of the world is getting it, right? Woo! Can't wait! It's going to be so bloody good, I absolutely loved the first and this looks tons better! Anyone else as hyped as me? (If the hype meter ends at 10, I'd be at 11) |
wow, I really do not feel the same way as you. Nowhere near the same. WKC is one of the worst JRPG's this decade. The Story was atrocious. Not good in any form.
However, WKC did have a pretty cool gameplay mechanic, which if it had been implemented correctly would have been awesome. For example, it is all real time, so you have to run up to an enemy in order swipe at them, but not so for the enemies, they can hit you from however far away they like, just as long as they have you targeted. Little things like that will bug the crap out of you.
The online was pretty cool at first, but it turns into a huge grinding nightmare not that far into it. If they added so more levels and so that you didn't have to spend a month to level up to the next level, it could have been pretty sweet.
WKC had potential, but it did not live up to it in any shape or form, IMO anyway.

I think it was realistic not bringing this over, demon souls on the other hand was a dumb move. I think we JRPG fans overstate the popularity of the genre.

Of course. It's not a mainstream genre at all. Only two series that have made it in the States and one of them has tailed off greatly. Regardless, it'd still sell well enough to justify the costof the localization (which I'm sure D3 will make a little bit at least).
