Hell, who didn't expect an increase with the release of Starcraft II and a new WoW expansion?
Damn Foamer, you beat me to it! I was just about to post this.
Anyway, summary:
- PC Gaming grew 19% to $16.2 billion in revenue
- China continues to be the largest and fastest growing market for PC games with record 2010 revenue of $4.8 billion.
- Mature game markets in Korea, Japan, U.S., U.K. and Germany all showed growth in 2010
- The report concludes that the PC game business will continue to grow at a pace of 9% CAGR to $23 billion by 2014. Most of this growth will be driven by the increasing ease of digital distribution delivery solutions and payment methods.
- “The spotlight has definitely shifted back to the PC game market. A few of the biggest factors fueling this movement are innovative business models making games more accessible with digital distribution, free to play, and online; along with game formats embracing the shifts occurring in the evolution of the PC ecosystem to remain more profitable,” said Matt Ployhar, PCGA president and Intel analyst
Full report available to PCGA members which costs between $5000 or $30,000. Anyone a member... or rich?

yh bring back ES! >.,<
The 19% is not that suprising considering starcraft 2, wow, and a steady stream of sims 3 expansions. Still is good to see the growth of pc gaming. Hopefully indie game successes will encourage developers from stopping the drm bullshit that only hurts legit buyers and lets pirates have the best experience. Microsoft porting all their first party games to pc is making me a happy camper. Soon I will be able to sell my 360 and have one less system to waste money on.

?
I think it has a lot to do with the hardware being cheap enough and being able to handle games that actually now look better on PC than the consoles. I would emagine it happends every dusk of a console generation.
When the PS3s and 360s came out at first you would need a massive rig to play equivalent games on a PC... now my 700 laptop can run Fallout New Vegas its cheaper on PC....
