Forums - Gaming Discussion - It's official: Deus Ex: HR will be the best game of the generation!

From an interview with Deus Ex: Human Revolution Producer David Anfossi:

You're very busy testing the game. Have you seen players using strategies you didn't expect at all?
Yes, (...) also some ridiculous strategies. One player augmented his arms to lift heavy objects and decided to carry a candy machine throughout the game as a cover. That way he passed camera's, turrets and a lot of other obstacles, just by using the candy machine.

Someone killed all the people in the city and used the bodies to build a tower to climb over one of the walls of the levels. It took him three hours but eventually it worked.

Wow! That sounds like total freedom to me. Can't wait for the game.

it's going to be awsome can't wait, this year is so insanely packed with great titles and this is one of the best. The level of freedom combined with some aparently great writing and a massive world to explore.

Could anyone give sone pointers on Deus Ex?

I have never played the games.

I thought it was an FPS only.

It has an open-world?

Not an open world as far as I remember. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Marcios u like open world?

i doubt the second thing about stacking bodies is true. the more bodies you have the more textures have to be rendered and so the framerate would drop. thats why in games after you kill someone they vanish after a certain time so it doesnt impact the frame rate.

thats unless 'everyone in the city' is 10 people.

anyhow, its still my most anticipated 3rd party game, hope they make ps3 version good unlike other devs.

If Deus Ex is to FPS as Microsoft Office is to a computer.

Sure, FPS is a part of it, but there is much more.

Marcios u like open world?

MY favorite genre of games, by far.

Couple that with RPG elements and its gaming heaven for me

Ok, but my question was what is this "much more"?

IS it really open orld? Are there RPG elements? Platforming? Puzzles? Choices in dialogues?

Deus Ex is in the first place a first person RPG, but you really can play it the way you like. Sneaking, Action, Hacking and Social Interaction are the four pillars the game is built on and you can specialize in one or use them all.

The special thing is the augmentation of the body, so basically you improve whatever you want about your body to say improve hacking or become stronger or even invisible.

It's not really open world, but very close (it's definitely not linear at all) and what we've seen from Human Revolution the cities will be huge and very interactive.
