Forums - Gaming Discussion - No more riddles: Blizzard hiring for “console Diablo III”

people should probably read this before getting their hopes up, or start thinking the worst...

http://www.gamepron.com/news/2011/02/17/diablo-iii-still-not-confirmed-for-consoles/

key points "We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project. If you’re passionate about all things Diablo and have the requisite skill and experience, then head over to our jobs site to check out the positions and apply.

Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game."

in other words the job listing is for someone to experement with the game to see if it's worth porting and while this means a port is possible it is in no way confirmed and hasn't been started yet. if it does happen will probably be a delayed port (or a rush job which Blizzard just don't do).

Yes they could delay the game but then I might have to kill them all...

I think Diablo on consoles makes sense, and is probably going to sell 3-4 million units, but you have to wonder as to how much this going to affect future releases from Blizzard.  I suspect we will see a split of Activision and Blizzard, and a very nasty fight in the process...On one hand, you've got Blizzard, which is making money hand over fist vs. Activision, which would be LOSING money like EA, if it wasn't for Blizzard...

What's a diablo III? Should I be excited?

hah. To be honest, I'm more excited for Dungeon Siege 3.

Wow, funniest post ever !

...

Hmm, but really,  are you serious ?

yeah I wasn't impressed with the Diablo 3 gameplay videos. Looked pretty boring. (and ugly)

The game would sell badly on consoles because it looks like a PSN store game except at full 60$ price tag. Also the biggest part of the game which is Battle.net probably wouldn't be allowed to work on consoles as a service like it does in Starcraft2 so consoles would get an inferior product.

atleast PC still has Guild Wars 2, a game that i am 99 % sure will never ever get ported to consoles.

About that, Sony had a deal with NCSoft for some MMOs for the PS3, though I havn't seen anything come of that deal.

The game’s never been dated, but Activision said recently that it doesn’t expect a Blizzard title to release in 2011, but that two games will arrive from the company in 2012.

Which two might that be? Diablo 3 obviously but the 2nd - would the single player sequel to Starcfraft 2 count?

Score another one for the glorious console gaming master race!

ow please... shio will prove with his calculations that the PC version will sell 59 million copies MORE then the console versions combined... without counting the MAC versions! All hail the PC!!

Then I shall preempt his calculations with one of my own.

PC gaming - Diablo exclusivity = DEAD. ROFLROFLROFLROFL!

Crysis
Battlefield
STALKER
The Witcher (likely)

now Diablo

PC is losing quite a few former exclusive gaming series. And not the smallest ones I might add.

STALKER 2 is getting console versions?

I could deny this question, but that would be a lie, so yes. It's comming to consoles.

I wonder how the online is going to play out? Will it be powered with Battle.net? There a ton of questions that need to be answered!

Sigh.. I am going to call that the "glorious" PC gamers will wind up blaming the console gamers for making the game shitter, somehow. That stuff always happens when a game looses exclusivity.
