Having just wrapped up Dragon Quest V (which, by the way, I really LOVED playing) and anticipating the next DS title (as well as trying out DQ 1 & 2 on the ZSNES emulator), I found myself thinking about the tenth entry in the series.

We still haven't heard ANYTHING about it since Horii last confirmed that it was still for Wii.

Now I have no doubt that it will be a smash hit in Japan in its release--unlike new IPs, DQ is BOUND to be a big seller regardless of what system it is on, but I would like to think that sometime during the latter part of the year we should hear something else about the game.

One thing that I wouldn't mind Nintendo doing in order to advertise DQX would be this:  give VC owners a taste of DQ.  I'm sure that there are users who would love to play the old NES/SFC titles on their Wii.  They did it with FF 1-5 (6 has yet to make it), so why not with the DQs?  If anything, it would prepare gamers for it.

If ports of DQVII and VIII are out of the question, well, then at least this would be better than nothing.

I've never played a Dragon Quest game but for some reason I am interested in this one.  I am actually hoping to hear more on the Wii version soon.  This is indeed strange.  Lol.  I do like your idea of having old DQ games on the VC :).

I've only played IV, V and IX, with VII bought but not started yet.  However, I love the DQ series and really hope X meets my expectations.

I'm sure they will release DQI-VI on the VC, I really hope they release them as part of the Hanobi festival as well.

Nintendo are likely Publishing the game, like DQIX, why would they allow it on the PS3, and hurt their console and HW sales in Japan?

Nintendo doesn't publish DQIX in Japan. They did it in the West so that SquareEnix would release the title, because SE would never have if Nintendo hadn't paid all the communication and advertising behind it.

I would say if it is not shown at E3 I would look to TGS for a 3DS version reveal TBH.

Eh, no way it's going away from Wii - Nintendo would like it better there than on 3DS and SE wouldn't backstab Nintendo by putting it on PS3 after the Western success of DQIX and the massive Western potential for DQX.

Anyhow, it better be coming soon and be more awesome than DQIX. And it better be followed by DQVII/VIII remakes and DQ-DQVI on VC, :D.
