Forums - Sales Discussion - *Where Would Gaming Be If Wii Failed?*

Well, by now, the industry would have collapsed and Sony and MS would be playing "Who Pulls the Plug on Video Games First?" in the home console market, with most notable third parties bankrupt.

Less Kinect and Move and more money for  exclusives..Damn you Wii...

LOL, it'd be ticking over fine.

MS and Sony would just more or less be sharing first place, Ninty's console would have done 20 mill, so same as last gen, and MS and Sony would be on same course for their 80 mill. So 160 mill (PS2 140, Xbox 25)

So market would be about the same roughly, userbase wise anyway.

Without the Wii the 3rd parties couldn't flood the Wii with bad and cheap games and because of that 3rd parties wouldn't have any money to fund games and the industry would collapse

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

The generation would have be in a much better place for gamers that don't game on the WII.

Yeah because the gaming industry collapsed the last two gens without Nintendo in the drivers seat.

To be fair, though, dev costs are much higher this gen.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

@zuvuyeay  i was talking more of the end of the last gen, when Ninty was kinda hurting with the whole Gamecube thing( i happen to love that system BTW)

@vengeance  Uncharted, Little Big Planet, God of War, Super Street Fighter, Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, GTA, etc they all say hi, there is plenty of variety on the HDs, anyone who doesnt think that is fooling themselves

It has nothing to do with Nintendo being in the driver's seat. The last two generations did not have consoles as ridiculously overpowered and overpriced early on as the PS3 and 360 ($600 and $400 at a loss). If it weren't for Wii sitting on top of them, the HD consoles would've probably fought each other to death with price cuts and the like and third parties wouldn't have had quick, inexpensive games on the Wii to balance off huge HD development costs.
