Forums - Sony Discussion - Activision might not shut down the PlayStation 3 Servers of Black Ops

Recently, it was stated by an Activision spoke person that they might be considering shutting down the PlayStation Network servers for the popular game Call of Duty: Black Ops. One big incentive for Activision to not shut down the servers is profit.

It's well known by now that Activision is focused on making a big profit. They have already made billions off of the Call of Duty series across all platforms, and if they were to shut down the PS3 servers, they would be losing a lot of profits.

However, there is the possibility that Microsoft could be paying off Activision to shut down the PS3 servers so that the Xbox 360 can dominate the Call of Duty market.

I for one own Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Xbox 360. Reason why? I knew this would exactly happen, Activision treats the PlayStation 3 users like chattel, and they are nothing to them. If only Activision would get up and try to attempt to fix this issue, it would not be a problem but of course Activision thinks otherwise.

Everyone can blame the PlayStation 3 for this problem but people are jumping off the boat way too quick. Sony is still trying to fix the issue that has come across all of their consoles but seems that companies have given up on them which is sad to be honest. Sales for Black Ops would fly through the roof for the Xbox 360 because they would have the only stable and playable online version of the game. There is also the dispute that the Xbox 360 has already been hacked but due to having to pay for a fee online and that Microsoft bans consoles before major releases, it is an idea that Sony should look up to.

Sony has previously stated that it has the right to ban consoles at any given time for violating the Terms of Service of the PlayStation Network but it has not happened to a majority of the hackers. They probably do know a way on how to deal with the issue, but it is probably due to the fact that the issue will cost a lot of money to fix but it would be worth it if they did.

What are your thoughts on this? Should Activision abandon the PlayStation 3?

I don't give a crap if they abondon it. I can go play Battlefield or Killzone instead of COD.

Why do people think Activision would actually do this?

I would love for them to abandon ps3. Good riddance.

Absolutely not. It doesn't make sense financially.

Around the Network

Damn...

What why would they do it in the first place?

That's impossible.

Why do people give credit to a random blog post? Activision wouldn't ever shut down PS3 servers of Black Ops, at least not yet. They have tons of DLC to sell.

PS: That line mentioning that MS can pay Activision to shut down PS3 servers shows the credibility of that blogger.

This.

Activision loves to sell their overpriced dlc to the COD fans. They would be missing out on millions upon millions of dollars.

Why are you giving attention to random blogs?

Come on, people. How many times must we go through this?

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
