GT5 had a pretty significant adjustment week 1 in the Americas (over 100,000). It did 2.3 mill week 1 WW (closer to my original 2.5million prediction).

Adjustment is for Canadian sales. It sold a rather insane 170k first week. Also it would seem that week 3 was adjusted up about 30k as well. I think that's because that's the week the game launched in South America.

So wait... according to NPD, GT5's first month in Canada = Forza 3's first month in North America?

*tries not to ROFL*

But I thought Gran Turismo only sells in Europe!

O-)

I agree about it being a statistical tie. I was wondering though, as far as these statistics go, what would the difference have to be before one could be declared a clear winner? I'm thinking 15k but what do y'all think?

I guess it really depends on the data. VGChartz says themselves that it is about a 10% margin of error. So in this case it would probably be around 22,400

Yeah, good point.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! GT5 below 100k!!! That's not possible.

IT ONLY DOES ADJUSTMENTS - GT5 undertracked again.

I'm expecting the 2nd week to be adjusted,as it has had a pretty big drop compared to GT4 then, and the Christmas week, when it decreased compared to the previous week, which doesn't make any sense.

I gues first week was adjusted because the Canadian numbers... and the third week because the Latin American numbers...

No adjustments for others weeks because no data coming yet... but Sony fiscal quarter is 2nd Feb... just 12 days.

Those PS3 numbers in the states...it's the one missing key from ensuring second place in weekly sales.

Still, overall it's a tie, and I'm happy for every console.

What could Sony do?? they dont have half a billion to spend like Microsoft did. at least PS3 is competively doing well despite the price and marketing advantages of the other 2 home consoles.

Sony's marketing expenses for 2009 were ~5 Billion.  So ten times what Microsoft spent on Kinect.

Obviously Sony has to spread those marketing dollars out over a lot of products, but please stop pretending like poor little old Sony couldn't do anything.

We don't know thier marketing budget for the PS3 and Move but even if we were to find out that it was less than Microsoft, let's remember that that was Sony's choice to not spend thier marketing dolars thier, not a lack of marketing dollars.

That being said, and before I'm considered a hater, I live in the states, and I just took advantage of the $50 gift card at amazon to buy my 2nd PS3 (to replace my 60GB that I lent to a nephew).  So I'm doing my part (but still think 360 has America in the bag going forward).
