Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Donkey Kong Country Returns is astounding - Let's talk about it

I like it alot, especially all the little details. It is relatively easy. I don't mind the motion controls, and I got used to the floaty physics of DK, now i think its the tightest controlled platformer ive ever played (atleast since Megaman).

Im bored with 2D platformers, or maybe just platformers in general, SMG is better than SMG2, Other M is a disaster because of simplified/motion controls - these are my unpopular opinions.

8.5 out of 10. Im about halfway through Lv.7 on first play through. Unlocked K Levels 1 through 3, only beat the first 2.I play with wiimote only.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Did you see the Crocomire skull reference from Super Metroid on the Foggy Fumes level?

Awesome reference.

my  mind is fucked,

on the subject of Super Metroid, am I the only one who felt like the Lower Norfair music sould have played on some of the volcano levels, it would have really suited them

The only part of the game that I don't like is when the waggle and down on the D-Pad are used together.  I understand that the Wii Remote has a limited amount of buttons, but the roll could have been easily done by asking you to hit both the 1 and the 2 buttons at the same time.

Besides for that though, I love the game.  Getting all of the letters, puzzle pieces, and medals is indeed a challenge and the level design is spectacular.

I loved the small references to Metroid in the game like some backgrounds, the music in tidal terror and the volcano level.

Is a great game full of small details. I haven't enjoyed a platformers in years like this one. Even more than NSMBWii that I did like a lot but DKCR has more content and old school fun in it.

Oh yeah. The music in Tidal Terror is like pure MP2. Good memories.

The music remixes were one of my favorite things about this game. There is a reason I play the theme when I'm driving with my friends.

I absolutely loved this game. There is so much to do and I will definitely revisit the game later and 100% it.(I loaned it to my friend to play)

And I felt it got hard in world 7.

I agree that it's an awesome and very enjoyable game

But I disagree in that I think it's a REALLY hard game - - - I never leave a level without getting the KONG letters, the puzzles pieces and getting gold in the time trial - - - - I started a couple of days ago (this is my third day of heavy play) and I just now beat the first boss - It's very very hard to get gold on time trial - did you actually beat each level completely?

omg that's epic! :D

I like it, an 8.5 in my book..I just wish Retro hadn´t made shaking the controller obligatory for the ground pound move...I like motion controls when they´re used as an IR pointer, but I´m not a fan when devs replace pressing buttons with shaking the controller, at least allow both options damnit!
