1st would be gamespot

2nd would be ign

3rd would be google and wiki

no offence, but vgchartz/gamrreview sucks. i find the news to have been posted 1st in the forums a day or so before its picked up into an officiald article. plus the articles are often instantly biased towards x360 and anti sony..

for example, press release by sony "we have sold x units" which is automatically translated by vgc as "shipped"

but when ms releases somthing like "we have sold x units" it is taken as "sold"

then there are instances wherein sony releases some sort of positive news but when its picked up by vgc writers there's always an additional opinion that goes  "but...negative negative negative raining on the parade negative"

so, to be taken seriously as a news site, please please please leave all opinions out of news or press releses. if sony says they sold this then just quote them and say what they say dont add a "blah blah blah but but but crap"

Well, you're mixing different things here - gamrReview is just a database of game information, whatever opinions the gamrFeed writers have in their news articles  or editorials shouldn't make gamrReview "suck".

I think you need to fire the 'writers'.

Around the Network

I personally frequent this site daily to keep up on all things gaming and of course to see if anything informative pops up on games I am particularly interested in.

I also check metacritic and read as many reviews for a game as possible if I haven't made up my mind ahead of time and pre-ordered.  My wife and I have been Nintendo people since the NES days so I have a subscription to NP, but read a game informer or some such publication whenever I get my hands on one.

Kudos to you guys though, I think you all do a great job here at VGChartz and I enjoy all the information you make available here.  thanks!

I don't know why someone stated that GameReview sucked. Though GamerFeed is slow at the news. Usually why I always nag at them when they are days late. :P

Honestly it use to be VG Chartz until the new version hit. It's probaly gamefaqs, IGN or Wiki now.

Just a heads up this would help moving through VG Chartz a lot better with people, I mean it's a game site so shouldn't there be an option to search for any game you want on any page on VG Chartz, that's what I liked about the the last version, the game search was always on the top.

And I already suggested this before, I dunno what you think of it but IMO this would be a perfect feature for the site, since VG chartz is already a little slow you want you go through as little pages as possible, this will help.

I generally go to Wikipedia first, then usually somewhere like GoNintendo, N4G, or the like

Wikipedia, It's surprising accurate for game news and it has links to most of the things stated, having all the info (date, development process, reviews, etc) in one spot makes it really nice.

Usually either VGC or IGN. If I want to see some vids, sometimes YouTube.

Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee   3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

If it's on the PS3, then the playstation blog.

If it isn't, or I would like more info on it, I use wikipedia and gameinformer.com

I generally get the first news about a game on the forums here.... if I want to search for media I generally use google, but have used the games section of this site sometimes if I am searching for an exact game (for example google will bring up loads of pics of Killzone 2 if I search for Killzone 3, but if I want it to be specific to K3 i'll come here first, before moving back to google to try a better search, if still not successful maybe onto IGN)

Most cases though I tend not to search for media as it comes to the forums.

------

I would guess you don't want this here, but hopefully the new features will include:

- the ability to post the plus symbol (lets see if it works here: )
- the ability to at minimum use the return key in a PM, hopefully though to PM in rich text... and the ability to return in wall posts.
- If the rich text editor can't/doesn't load... surely there must be a way to load a clear text box or something for posting in forums (a la the quick reply in the old forum) that way people can post from phones or other small browsers.
- The current graphs looks really nice, and will naturally be applied to hardware sales too... the pin mode feature however is pointless without being able to view weekly sales (rather than cumulative) my guess is this will be re-implemented anyway... but just in case.... also being able to view say 5 platforms at once would be neat (though having the old 3 platforms back will be good enough)
- I would guess more options for the chartz will be a premium feature, but I would sure like the ability to view sales by month again, and by quarter would be neat as well.
- being able to order games in our games section, and in the game database view who else has the game again.
- the ability to use colour.

I'm sure there are more, I come across things every so often but always forget to write them down or something.... and no doubt many or all of these things are being discussed. Personally I don't understand the limiting of the colour for text on the forumswhich seems to be some kind of intentional decision... yet those who abused the privelege before (always posting in a specific colour for example) are still able to if they wish by copying from Word or editing the html. Being able to colour things is a useful visual aide, particularly for statistics (this site being about sales after all) And i've been complaining about the glitchy table function in the RTE on this site since the beginning, and it has become worse and worse in the past few years I think i'd best stop complaining.

Oh and something I tend to come across way too much on the web... very un-user-friendly navigation/link buttons. If something looks like a button you should be able to click on the whole thing, not just the text in the middle, yet on the text editor light box thing I am typing in now, clicking the "reply" or "done" button, as well as on the user links for their Wall/Games/Messages etc sections I am constantly having to make sure I click on the text.

Edit - ok, oddly I didn't have to do so on the "Done" button for editing, but I am sure I had to for "Reply"... so i'll check back after my next new post and see if I was wrong/it's been fixed/maybe some problem with my browser/machine/finger.

Edit2 - no the problem is still there, but you can click on the lower portion of the button... essentially I can click on where it says "Done" as well as a full button width box that sits below "Done" but not any of the other space.
