Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Good games for a five year old?

I also recommend the Maw. It's really a great game for everybody, kids included.

I got my little girl îding %renzy from XBLA.  At the time, she loved it.  I recommend that game wholeheartedly.  I think it's available on disc, too.

Most tie ins to movies (like Bee Movie and Open Season) are surpisingly good, too.  If he/she likes a movie, chances are the game is decent. Now that she's nine, she can beat games like The Maw with ease.

Would help if we knew what sort of stuff he's into. For instance, my nephew likes Star Wars, so he plays Force Unleashed. The obvious ones are the Lego games and Banjo Kazooie. If you don't want to coddle him then some less obvious games could be:

  • Prince of Persia
  • Mirrors Edge
  • Portal (it's on X-box Live right?)
  • Tom Clancy's HAWX 1 & 2
  • F1 2010 (has a very easy mode with braking assist)
  • Final Fantasy XIII

Get him Dante's Inferno and Assassin's creed.

Dante's inferno, Gears of War, Splatterhouse. I loved guns and bloody messy violence when I was a kid, it made me feel cool and badass.

Snoopy flying ace! (Xbox Live Arcade) That one is awesome!
pirates vs ninjas dodgeball (Xbox Live Arcade)
Ben 10 Alien Force Vilgax Attacks
A kingdom for Keflings
Spongebob's Thruth or Square

Come on people, don't let him grow up to be a casual! To OP- get some of the games I mentioned like Tales, Banjo Kazooie and Lost Odyssey. Set him on the right path from the start.

Also, as an aside, the more you shelter a kid the more they are going to experiment. By getting him kinect you ensure he'll be a loser with a drug addiction in his future. If you get him tales or LO he will grow up to be a congressman with a drug addiction.

I don't think anyone is arguing to shelter him for life. He is 5, not 13.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

People are choosing games like Banjo or Lost Odyssey (or even the guy who said he played Zelda at age 5), I don't know about you but....at age 5, I could barely read!
