Forums - Nintendo - Selling my DSi, need help/advice!

I've decided to sell my DSi to get as much as I can on it before the 3DS comes out.

One slight annoyance though is losing my DSiware games.

I know the 3DS isn't out yet and we have no idea how transferring our old DSiware games will work so I wanted to know if anyone knows of a way to transfer DSiware games from one DSi to another?

Now I know you can't do this easily otherwise we would all be sharing games and losing Nintendo tons of money. But is there a way to do it legally with good reason? E.g. a faulty machine or deciding to trade you DSi for a DSi XL.

I've noticed tons of options such as formatting the DSi, copying games to an SD card and most importantly deleting your DSi shop account which means you can't re-download previously purchased software! Surely there's a good reason to have this option on the DSi?

I was thinking if I copy my games to an SD card, delete the shop account and format the DSi I might be able to transfer them to another DSi (3DS)?

Has anyone had the same problem? Any help would be most welcomed as I’d like to keep the games if possible.

Nintendo is so greedy. Every other company ties the bought software to the accounts and lets you transfer the rights to another device but not nintendo. Consider those games as losses.

it might be by SD card, but like mentioned they should have the account thing already, its so frustrating to deal with this especially if you are like me , like to buy lots of games.

On the Virtual Console, Nintendo ties purchased games to your Club Nintendo account. I can't speak for DSiware though. Though logic would dictate that it's the same.

Is that club nintendo account on every console or do you have to create one? Can the account be transferred to another console?

Go to Nintendo.com and create one. Then just register your system's ID number.

If I make one, can I transfer VC/WW stuff to another console?

Yeah, I believe so. But you have to register both systems. I think.
