I mean.  They already made Darth Vader look horrible via backstory, so he sets some Star Wars movies in the future without anyone knoweldgable...

Don't see how it can butcher the legacy of the first films because....

A) Already accomplished

B) It won't involve anybody.

At worst it'll just come out and feel like bad fanboy movies where Jedi Steve beats Darth Coach Johnson.

There were no sith when he was in his prime, though. The Sith went "extinct" as far as anybody knew around 1,000 years before A New Hope, so Yoda post-dates that by about 100

The problem, like others have said, is that everything's been done. They have stories set about 140 years after the original trilogy, they have stories set up to 5,000 years before it (handily predating Kotor, for instance), and have fleshed out that entire timeline in between

He would have to go well into the future, say "screw you guys" to the expanded universe authors and overwrite what they've done, or merely do an adaptation of what they've done

YES!  I'd like to see it take place long before the current movies when the Jedi and Sith were at war.

Man theirs alotta StarWars hate, is Darth like the only one who agrees with me. I liked Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith. I can't wait to see the live action TV series and would die to see Episode 7,8,9. To be honest though isn't Lucas getting a little old another like ten years from now will he still be alive or well enough to produce another 3?

I wouldn't mind Lucas getting another director to direct and writers to write the script. It would be cool to get some fresh blood in the series. I just don't know if Lucas will be well enough ten years from now to produce a AAA movie like the other five!

FTR The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi weren't directed nor written by Lucas (he just wrote the story, but not the screenplay).

Im seem to be in the minority of people on this site that like Episodes 1-3, possibly as when I grew up they were the Star Wars movies and 4-6 were getting on a bit. The Clone Wars was ok but that was never going to be critically acclaimed or anything. But please, stop this talk of a new Star Wars movie trilogy without any of the Skywalkers, that would be pushing in on Call of Duty-esque milking standards.
