Wow they have gone crazy, I can't wait for this game to even sell less than DMC4! lawl!

2.7 million games sold to consumers is nothing to sneeze at, yet it isn't enough for Capcom producer Motohide Eshiro. With Ninja Theory's upcoming reboot of the franchise, the Devil May Cry producer is hoping to cross the 5 million mark that other action games have set.

o reach those numbers, the Japanese publisher realised it would need to appeal to a wider audience than DMC's core user base. This is partially the reason Capcom is taking the series in a new direction.

"When we say rebirth, part of our goal is to go back to the roots, dig deeper, and try to expand upon those ideas to make the series accessible to a wider audience," Motohide told Eurogamer. "We want to give the series a fresh, new standard a literal rebirth."

Though the game's redesign is intended to expand the fan base, a vocal segment is opposed to the new look for protagonist Dante. Even franchise creator Hideki Kamiya recently tweeted some reservations to the character's face lift.

darth, I think theire was a thread about this anyways... but I dunno... I only liked DMC3 anyways. Ninja Gaiden, and GOW were much better imo.

Though TBH, I never thought the old Dante wasn't that manly either... he looked somewhat feminine anyways... not that that's a bad thing.

So maybe it will sell more if people care that much about how they look and like the new one.

Anyways... I don't really see where they are getting other action games have sold 5 million  is relevant.

The gameplay is in the lines of. Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and God of War... and I don't think any of those have even sold 4 million.

I mean, if you compare it to gears or assasins creed yes... but dmc is not similar to gears of war or assasins creed.

Won't get there....Capcom have had their sales dreams shattered this gen... Remember LP2 and 3 million or something during the first year ? RE5 met their projections IIRC.

Anyway, it won't outsell God of War III and that looks like it'll hit 4 million plus easily...

Oh boy, is Capcom ever going to be disapointed.  Ninja Theory probably doesn't have a 5 million seller in them, regardless of the ip, and expecting a generally unliked reboot of an established series to do that is insane.  I hear tell that they told NT to make something they'd hate, but they forgot to take into consideration the fact that the fans would hate it too.  If the new DMC sells over a million then it will have done well all things considered.  2 is great.  3 is basically unthinkable at this point.  NT would have to pull off what would essentially be a miracle to come anywhere close to those expectations.  They'd have to win over the existing fanbase, despite the rage, and then double it.

Weren't there 3 games announced at TGS that looked pretty much the same?

This, the Suda Project and something else. I think there'll be alot of brown'n'bloom complaints about these titles if they all release at the same time.
