I voted PS3 because I thought I'd be the only one and it would be ironic, given this thread was intended as a one sided pissing contest rather than something with any actual doubt as to the outcome. But it seems others already had the same idea...I really do hope those who voted PS3 weren't taking this thread seriously.

even if Kinect flops, and Move does much better than expected and 500,000 PS3's are sold on the week GT5 launches the 360 will still get to 50 million before PS3.

The sustained period when PS3>360 by the widest margin since PS3 first launched was Sept '09 - May '10. By hHow much did PS3 outsell 360 during that period? 3.8 million. That's 68% of the current gap. Other than another $100 price cut there is simply no way it is even remotely possible for PS3 to outsell 360 by 46% MORE than it did in the 9 months post the 2009 slim/pricecut. And even then it would be doubtful. And considering 360 will be at 50 million in January PS3's task is made about aas statistically possible as the whole monkeys on typewriters and complete works of Shakespear thing.

Now Seece knows how to make a good PS3 vs 360 pissing contest, because he always gives PS3 a fair chance (e.g. the Americas 25 million vs 15 million poll, or will 360 overtake PS3 in EMEAA poll).

But I mustn't criticise if I can't put my money where my mouth is. So I'm off to make a PS3 vs 360 sales  poll, and people can come and criticise it if it is as ridiculously lopsided as this one.

I have to agree with Binary Solo about the intentions of this thread (see one sided pissing contest). Because of that, I shall not cast a vote.

My choice was the X-Box 360. It was a no brainer due to the popularity of the X-Box brand. Look at PS3 its sales only get a boost when Sony cuts the price. Yes it has seen some small bulsters from some software but for the most part the PS3 is about as likely to beat Microsoft as Nintendo going third party.

What does Microsoft have going for it? Halo Reach alone is bound to have boosted hardware sales. Then you have big titles like Fable III and Gears3. Now yes Sony has a very good line-up as well but lets look at its big hardware boost plan, using Move to boost sales and gain some lost ground from Nintendo. However the extremely expensive Move will cost as much as Kinect. I think once 360's are bundled with Kinect, hardware sales will boost. Even if the Kinect doesn't work well and is glitchy at launch it will still push hardware numbers up by a few million.

Japan is another big factor. It looks like Microsoft might finally have its golden gun for Japan. Kinect was extremely popular at TGS. I think if Microsoft marketed Kinect well enough it could lead to Microsoft gaining its first grip on the Japanese market. If Microsoft can manage to start selling large numbers of hardware in Japan that could change the whole outcome of the war.

Anyways theirs way to many factors in Microsoft's favour. The PS3 needs a few price cuts a cheaper Move and solid software ASAP and no Twisted Metal, LittleBigPlanet2, Killzone3 , GranTurismo5. Not even GT5 can push the PS3 to 50-million units. Sony needs to rethink their strategy fast or else they are doomed to third place.

Hopefully 3rd place will humble Sony, they will feel what Nintendo felt with the N64. Lead for two generations before loosing the spot at number one!

The 360 is selling more units per week. And the Move didn't move (haha :P) that much hardware. Looking at the pre-orders Kinect has a chance of selling hardware, but then again Gran Turismo 5 probably also is going to push hardware.

Well I had to go for the XBOX360, the general treand this year in worldwide weekly sales has been DS>Wii>360>PS3>PSP, but of late the 360 has actually been beating the Wii and with both Reach and Kinect  out this year plus the massive boost the slim model gave it, I'd say the 360 will win hands down in this race.

360 because they are like 5M ahead and will near 50M by xmas, and they will only have about 1.5M left and PS3 will have about 4M left by next year or this year.

actually i feel xbox is a cooler side of MS, so it is a great what they do to be 2nd place and to be 50 mil 1st

official means according to the fiscal reports, that means the game is lower then on vgchartz. but 360 is till going to reach first. this question is obvious!
