Forums - Gaming Discussion - You can't play that franchise

There's so many GOOD games that I just can't play. I play them because I know they are good and I kind of feel obligated to finish but still don't. Metroid, Resident Evil, Some final fantasy games, specially Dissidia, [loved crisis core, though], basically any realistic racing simulator, pikmin, SMG1, Monster Hunter, Madden, Paper Mario on the DS, GTA. There are some games like Mass Effect 1 which I can't find anything to complain about but still couldn't play, I like rpg's and side-quests but still I wish it was more linear, I like knowing what to do.

I don't like Grand Theft Auto at all.  This goes all the way back to the original two games with the top view.  I thought that things might change with 3 and guess what?  I didn't like that either.

I also am not a fan of Metal Gear Solid.  Splinter Cell was always more entertaining to me.

Mind you that these are both good franchises and well made, but I just don't get into them.

Funny you mention games from companies that your profile says you don't own games by. It only shows nintendo stuff, not very diverse. Are yo lying or do you not mention your Microsoft or Sony system and games owned because this makes you look like a liar.

I am not afraid to say that I'm a Nintendo fan, but that doesn't mean that I haven't played the games that I mentioned.  Have you ever played any game that you don't own?  I'm guessing that you probably have and if you claimed that you did I wouldn't call you a liar.  By the way, Metal Gears first games were on Nintendo, in case you didn't know.

I will give any game a try and I tend to like most of them.  However there are a few game types that really are annoying to me now days.

I used to love JRPG's and they were my favorite genre, but this gen has all but killed the genre for me.  There may be 2 JRPG's I do not hate this gen.  And thats a very very sad thing IMHO.

I am a big Star Trek fan and I hate pretty much every Star Trek game that has ever been released.  I know there is a new MMO Trek game that I haven't tried yet.  But I refuse to invest $15 a month in just one game.  I won't even do that for WOW.

Hockey,  I hate the sport and I hate the game even more.

Metal Gear was on the MSX first then ported with a very bad port to the NES and the REAL Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake the one made by Kojima-san was only ever released on the MSX in Japan.

Killzone 1 (so horribly boring)

Killzone 2 (even worse than the first)

Mass Effect 1 (so many technical problems)

infamous (when does it get fun?)

Disgaea 3 (barf, I don't know what I was thinking)

Assasins Creed 1 (I found it really boring after awhile)

Sports Games (I'm just not into them)

Anything on PSP. I can't play any of those games because the system brought me so much disgust. So basically any on there I can't play.

I'll add more when I think of them.

You actually hit most of mine... honestly though I don't hate a series, I hate the games themselves, I'm always open to a new game in a series if the new game shows promise and might fix my issues from the first.

Ex. I really disliked Fable, some friends played Fable II said it changed a lot of things, played it and REALLY hated the second lol I'm certain there is an example of the first sucking and the second game being actually good but right now I can't remember a series like that... maybe if you count Batman games as a whole then AA.

I always feel ashamed admitting I enjoy games to other guys because I hate most of the games they enjoy these include but aren't limited to Halo, GTA, Madden(almost any EA Sports titles for that matter), CoD, and Zelda.  I can only tend to find common ground in video game taste when I go back to the 16bit era.  It seems since the Playstation and beyond my tastes have become more and more niche.
