DKCR is going to be huge. Unfortunately it's still mostly the same kind of game as NSMB, so it won't push hardware like that did, but even so it will push hardware to a strong degree. That in addition to the sheer wealth of titles coming out, while in the last two holiday seasons were relying on a small number of big releases, this one should have a larger number of smaller but still quite significant releases. In the run up to the holidays we have Wii Party, DKCR, Just Dance 2, Micheal Jackson The Experience (only on Wii and handhelds before 2011), Epic Mickey and Goldeneye. Though, Epic Mickey could be a dud.

I hope Nintendo don't cut the price this holiday season. That way when software reignites excitement for the hardware, nobody can say "oh it was the price cut [which happened 8 weeks ago but is only now having a big effect]".

The SNES has super Mario world.  When DKC released it added more consoles sales  above the Mario what mario had done.

People absolutely underestimate Donkey Kong. This game sold faster than Mario around its release. It just didn't sell in even bigger numbers because they announced a sequel only months later.

Donkey Kong was the biggest hardware mover in the late SNES days. You guys probably thought Mario wouldn't sell consoles either, huh?

I will say it again there was not a single game to move hardware for the Wii this year. the only million seller was Mario Galaxy 2 and that obviously didn't move many consoles. Starting October these games will release weekly.

Now saying Donkey Kong isn't going to move consoles because Mario is also a platformer is just stupid. There was a time when most games where 2D platformers and people still bought consoles

Well, we'll see

Donkey Kong, like all million seller, will move consoles. But how much? The platform genre is already present on Wii and DK has still to show something to make it a must have. Unfortunately until Nintendo will be able to make every type of games, their consoles won't work forever without third party's support, Wii showed it.

Now what the Wii needs is a price cut or a redesign, some bundles and a few good dates. But really, will never return to 2008 levels, it just was too much, it'll probably sell over 100m before its successor arrives.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

So just ignore the fact that DKC moved alot SNES consoles after mario was released. So it did move consoles the proof is there. But you can ignore some facts and believe in what you like

If you don't believe DKC will move consoles due  NSMB already representing then I guess reach won't move 360's. But of course it will

Not really WOW sales, the PS3 is really struggling

Wii, free fall

Xbox, maintaining decent sales, after the horrible 2009 holiday and first half of the year Microsoft had, that's great for them

Expect Wii to get crazy sales at the beginning of October, with Wii Party, Kirby, then Just Dance and Donkey Kong Country

Crazy sales?  I really dont expect that at all.   Which of those games is going to bring a NEW audience at massive rates over and above current adoption rates?  Why will those games push hardware?

People are just misguided, they think because it happened in 07, 08 and 09 ect, that it'll happen again. Of course it only happened because Wii was big then and had a price cut in 09.

Now if Wii has a price cut then yes, it'll do much better sales.

I don't think people can fathom that if Wii gets no price cut or new HW that it'll do on par with the other consoles ... sales arnt going to explode because of DK and Kirby .......

When dkc was released on SNES it pushed sales above the genesis.

I don't think you understand the popularity of that game for older nintendo fans and the new ones.

Kirby I believe is more popular in Japan and I believe will push console sales. Wii Party will also push consoles.

If they are Nintendo fans then surely with 74M Wii's already in peoples homes they have already have a console.  Checked the other day the top selling console Kirby game sold like 1.8M copies.  Not going to push hardware when a console already has sold 74M units. Finally another Wii party game isnt going to bring in new people.  Wii will sell steady, but nothing to bring in people that arent already in the demographic.

Will there be people that pick up a Wii for any of those games. Sure there is always a game that pushes people over the edge.  What people are saying are these games arent going to change the direction the Wii is taking.  Simply put the only thing that could cause the Wii to have results like 2009 is to reduce price like they did in 2009.  Last year after the price cut jumped the average of about 370K per week in October from 150K per week in September.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

i called it? 360 wins again

Wii and PS3 surprisingly low

Because Halo Reach has a special bundle available for customers. And even if it weren't for those bundles, after 2 weeks there will be no sign left of the Reach bump.

So no I still don't believe that DKC will move many consoles.

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Square Enix
39 9,985
Final Fantasy XIII (X360)
Square Enix
27 9,652

Total - 19K (5 times more than FF12 in the same amount of weeks after launch....showing great legs compared to that!)

Excellent....7 Million is in the bag at this rate!

Amazon was selling FFXIII for 20$ thats the reason for the small bump, 20 bucks!
