I might be jumping the wagon a bit on this one, but i do think Nintendo would(and should) be the first to realease a new console. The current Wii will keep on selling regartless of a new and more powerfull system(as it has already shown), and with the right price will keep on selling for a long time(just like the PS2 did, probably even better).

Either way a new system is the only way i can think off for Nintendo to win back the core crowd. Atleast that way they could attract all the muli-platform games that the Wii is missing out on right now.

Offcourse, i didn't mean right now sorry. But it would make sense for them to do it within 2 years from now, beginning of 2012 or maybe even holiday's 2011. Either way it would be smart to beat Sony and Microsoft to it, and the 3DS shows they could announce it E3 2011 and release it later that year.

If the next Nintendo consoel will havd 3D, then we should see the new system around 2012, when 3D TV's are a bit more mainstream, or maybe late 2012 to early 2013,  Iawat said he doesn't want to release a 3D Nintendo consoel to soon and make people think they are being forced to buy a £3000 3D Tv's

I don't think Nintendo will use 3D on it's next console, they don't like 3D with glasses. And motion control and 3D glasses don't mix either.

But if it's one thing this generation has showed us is that you just can't make one system that pleases everyone. So it makes sense to split the casual and core market up by having two systems at the same time.

There's even a big difference in the Wii userbase. Some people(especially Japan) love their 2D platformers better than 3D. Nintendo could keep on using the current Wii for those 2D platformers and the casual market, aslong as they make their next console backwards compatible you could play those on both. And that plus the large Wii install base will keep developers interested in the system and will keep it selling.

Pricecuts and colors are not the answer to the low wii sales, new fresh software is. And there is software coming. DK, Kirby, Wii Party and epic mickey this year, and then Zelda and Vitality next year.

Amazing that 6 months ago wii broke the holiday record and here we are talking about how it's totally screwed...
