You'r misrepresenting the argument, here.

Sony is oversooting the market with 3D in the PS3. There's only a few tens of thousands of people who can utilize it. It's analogous to the HD problem with the HD twins, only a couplpe of orders of magnitude worse.

Nintendo is waiting until a 30% adoption rate for 3D-capable displays before making a 3D-centric system. Timing and care in the console space is what separates Nintendo from Sony.

yeah but SONY is only pushing so that they can go fully 3D next gen

remember blu-ray,if they hadn't done that this gen then PS4 would have had major limitations with DS-DVD thing

SONY is just pushingn 3D this gen and then full 3D next gen

1. You don't know that.

2. That reasoning doesn't make sense.

3. If they go fully 3D next gen, they're still going to be overshooting the market even more than they did this gen.

4. It's a bad idea. Nintendo's "wait for good penetration" approach is a good idea.

what don't i know??????

that reasoning makes perfect sense

by fully 3D i meant having 2d AND 3D games of every game on the disc as people can choose

Nintendos' wait for good penetration idea will only happen if SONY and other companies started penetrating with 3D

so as SONY is a electronic company they themselves push, but Nintendo can't do a thing

if BLU-RAY wasn't pushed by SONY the wait for penetration would have only doomed the PS4 and other HD consoles next gen's capabilities with the HD-DVD

that is how it works

No way 3D will have 30% adoption rate in the next few years.

What? No. Listen, Sony's primary driving ability her isn't as an electronics provider, the only way to push tchnology is through value propositions where price is measured against benefit provided by content. Sony has to act as a content provider, not a tech provider, if they want to be able to push tech. Tech doesn't sell itself. Content does, when balanced out against the values of the consumer.

You're operating under the false assumption that Sony has the magical ability to get people ot adopt this tech just by putting it out there. They don't.

Nintendo is waiting for 30% penetration for a very speific reason - at that point, the value proposition of 3D will be high enough in comparison to the cost that it makes sense to go for it.

Your HD-DVD comment is both specious and outside the bounds of this discussion.

It will be funny to see how Ninty fans will praise Nintendo for going 3D on the next Wii, although they say now that Sony are complete idiots for doing so.

Anyway, I think we will see 3D on PS4 and Wii2. HD TVs became cheaper very quickly and it will be the same with 3D TVs. And seriously, someone has to start with 3D on home consoles and I'm glad that Sony does it.

Wait just 1-2 years and 3D will be affordable for the mass market.

yes SONY has to act like content provider but till the time TECH isn't there,it won't be possible in some cases like biggere games that was made possible by BLU-RAY and 3D games now being pushed

SONY doesn't have the majical power to get people to adopt the tech but their brands have like PS3 did for blu-ray otherwise where would have BLU-RAY be now

HD-DVD comment was only put out to show why it is need to push both dontent and TECH

for example 3D atm is progressing well but if 3D PS3's are already activated then people won't have to buy a 3D BLURAY just a 3DTV and that can psuh 3D alot

yeah the people just don't understand that to push and bring the TECH somebody has to make a push,it isn't gonna come up itself

I can't understand most of your first paragraph.

Their brands don't have that power either. Content does. Content content content content.

Your HD-DVD comment still doesn't make sense.

Tech does not push tech.

So is Nintendo also heading towards it's doom like Sony now when we are talking 3D? Or did 3D suddenly became the real deal now that Nintendo says so? Let's see those hypocrites now.

You've misunderstood my post, my point was that pretty much every Nintendo fan here was calling Sony pushing 3D as a silly decision and poor gimmick (which it may be, for all I care), but suddenly when Nintendo announced 3DS and is seriously considering 3D for the next generations, not it's "THE THING".

In other words, we have a nice bunch of hypocrites here without their own oppinion. Next time someone will try to tell me that Wii Party isn't the most embarrasing thing ever announced.
