PSP2? They're just gonna have to skip 2 and move on to 3 just to compete. Actually, they should just stop trying altogether . . .

I imagine a PSP2 isn't as big of a priority as we might think it is.

At this point Sony is handing MS's ass to them on a silver platter. Between the slim launch and the PS3 starting to come into its own power-wise (that 10 year plan doesn't sound so LOLish at this point) I imagine priority #1 is pushing MS further down as they work their way up.  #2 would probably be working out all the possible kinks in Move for the PS4.   

Where did this idea that Apple is fighting NIntendo come from? Companies can have more than 1 rival. It's not MS vs Sony and in some other ring Apple vs Nintendo.  It's more like a giant brawl and lots of companies are getting in sucker punches on each other. Not everything is as simple as Black vs White and waaaaay over here is Red vs Blue. 

Don't forget MS is getting their shit packed by Google at the moment, too, who is also fighting Apple who is fighting MS. Poor MS is getting fucked in all holes at this point (ears and nose, too) because they're a big stupid lumbering mass so it's been a feeding frenzy on all fronts, even their desktop OSes are losing some share to Linux and more to Apple (not to mention Steam going to Mac and probably Linux, making it harder since games are a huge draw for the desktop crowd).

If Sony is smart they're not making a PSP2.  If they have any brains at all they're leaving the pure gaming pocket platform to Nintendo and going phone/apps/games feature-rich device.   They're not going to beat Nintendo on the gaming front, but they can (and easily) beat them on the feature front and create a compelling case as a compromise between an iPhone and 3DS.

Basically if they make a pure gaming PSP2 they're just making a giant pile of money and burning it. 

It really depends upon it's price.  Something Nintendo seemed reticent to talk about yesterday.  If it comes out at $300.00 or more, then it won't take off like gangbusters or sell 20 to 30 million its first year.

Meanwhile with evolving tech, Sony and MS could release handhelds just as powerful or more powerful at the same price, if it's initially high, a year later.

I don't get forum go-ers... SONY them selves said not to expect PSP2 anytime soon...

Well, in the videogame business that's usually trade talk for the first serious rumors will start circulating in about 6 months.

This is a Nintendo product we’re talking about; there is no chance that it will be $300 because that would make it the most expensive Nintendo system ever released. If the 3DS is expensive for Nintendo, I would expect it to be somewhere between $150 and $200; and at $200 I would anticipate Nintendo bundling it with a game.

This will come to the market between octuber/november at 199,99 with one game/demo packed with, and hey let not forgot we will be getting Ocarina of Time in 3D sorry , but nothing that sony or MS do can top that  haduhasudhas. -We even heard the word Pokémon 3D yet, and that is all that Nintendo needs...

Also sony does not need, a portable game system , they can make money on the PS3 and focus on it, PSP was erhm... let say a shot , if it hits the target GREAT , if not sony would all ready be Ok, and that why we did not even got a PSP 2 mention, also what they could do with it ? Better graphics and make it more multimidia ? Sorry Sony nothing u can do can top 3D pics on the Go ^~
