Forums - Gaming Discussion - Metal Gear Solid ==> Gray Fox Rising !!!

http://www.gamesthirst.com/2010/06/06/metal-gear-solid-gray-fox-rising/

IF this is true then this is really a nice tricky move from Kojima !

(some MGS spoiler inside)

Metal Gear Solid: Gray Fox Rising?

Snake, Snake, Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake! was the cry you heard in Metal Gear Solid: Guns of The Patriots, but this time Raiden, the somewhat childish soldier in Sons Of Liberty, turned super ninja has taken the lead. Kojima has never disappointed gamers in the past and at E3 2010, Metal Gear Solid: Rising will begin its rise.

The momentum and hype that’s now after Rising has been building for some time now. Ever since Raiden unexpectedly took the lead character’s role in Sons of Liberty, every Metal Gear Solid fans have payed close attention to him. Some love Raiden and most hate him.

But is it really Raiden? Some clues point to something else.

Okay, for those of you how didn’t know, I consider myself a Metal Gear expect, and also a conspirator. So here goes:

Look at the image below. The picture including featuring “Raiden” is used to promote Kojima’s upcoming title Metal Gear Solid: Rising, but is it Raiden in the image at all? Surely Kojima wouldn’t suddenly change so many of Raiden’s features.

The last time I checked Raiden had blue eyes, well the “Raiden” in the image has red eyes. What’s up with that? Also, the two screws in his head, surely we couldn’t have miss such a prominent scar. This “Raiden” also has a replacement jaw.

All one has to do is compare the Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots and this one in the image and you’ll clearly see that they are two totally different people…..

So if it’s not Raiden then who is it? I think I know the answer; it’s none other than Frank Jaeger also known as Gray Fox!

Just look at concept art of Frank Jaeger and take a look at his appearance in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops as “Null,” you will undoubtedly see the resemblance Raiden and Frank Jaeger.

If the aforementioned is the case, we are left we more questions than answers, like why do Raiden and Gray Fox look almost like twins? The Metal Gear Solid franchise is known for having clones, is Raiden a clone of Frank Jaeger, just like Snake is Big Boss’s clone?

And Gray Fox was thought to be dead after being stomped on by Metal Gear-Rex. something’s not connecting, but if we know anything about Hideo Kojima, is that the San knows how to make things make sense.

E3 is around the corner.

==> what really nice guess ... I could imagine the game could be related to the life of Frank Jaegger after his cybernetic modification and before his appearance in MGS ... my interest in this game just "rised" !!!

Lol KOJIMA's REVENGE

He made you think Snake was the main Character of MGS2 but gave you Raiden....you all whined about Raiden, you all whined MORE than you claimed Raiden whines in the game in fact.

Now when Raiden is cool & wanted as a main character Kojima will have his revenge on all of you by shocking you that Raiden isn't the main character LOL

Kojima FTW!

1. Raiden DID have a replacement jaw in MGS4.
2. The idea of it being Gray Fox because of the eye that was shot out by REX in MGS1 and the mystery character wearing an eyepatch over the same eye insinuates that the game takes place after MGS1 in which Gray Fox died. Though it's worth pointing out that this wouldn't be the first time that Gray Fox's death had been retconed.
3. We never got sight of Raiden's upper forehead through his helmet and hair. He could have very well had the screws.
4. The only real inconsistencies are the barcode on the forehead and the different color eyes. I don't think barcode is a valid inconsistency since I see no reason why it couldn't be removed and once again it wouldn't be the first time the color of one of the main character's eyes was retconed, not that it would have to be to even explain the difference.

One thing that supports the idea of it being Raiden is that MGS4 quite clearly built up and eluded to a story behind Raiden's change. For one we aren't provided with exactly how Raiden went about his change or the exact story behind it. Secondly, Kojima apparently decided to retcon the death of Dr. Madnar who died in the 1990 game Metal Gear 2 and provided absolutely no reason or explanation behind it.

All your other arguments work more or less but I don't fully agree about this one. You see, when MGS4 was released and people were discussing the game, this came up among other things. And what I saw every time was that the Madnar in MG2 is not the same as in MGS4. Also, a quick search for what's said about him in MGS4 seems to reveal he was said to be famous, which I doubt would be the case if he was actually the person who died in MG2.

Anyway, makes sense. But wasn't it stated somewhere that it actually is Raiden? (Not sure about this.) One way or another, I don't really care because I'm not sure if I'm going to like the way Kojima's come up with it.

Kojima and his plot twists...gotta love them!

Well, if it isn't Raiden ('cause it would make no sense for the ones who finished MGS4, even tho on that teaser there was a voice saying "Raiden is back") and it isn't Sunny (still might be tho. Her mother, Olga, was good with blades, she was Mr. X on MGS2 if I remember correctly) then Gray Fox would make sense.

If it isn't Gray Fox... well, maybe they cloned Raiden?  3 new elite soldiers that can only be distinguished by the eye colour... just for the record, I was the first one to say it before E3 XD

I LOLed at "kojima knows how to make things make sense"
