2 people on vgchartz have tried to convince me the game has failed in sales. Am i wrong in believing its sold well?

for the quality of the game, it sold well. Translation: it sold purely on brand name.... and hence failed to expand the market.
remember the key word: QUALITY.
I shall not mention the possible cause of such lack of "quality", it is for another time, another thread.
Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

it ddnt sell only on brnd name if it hs outsold th last 2 big ones (ffx-2 & almst ffxii)
Well, it sold as expected IMO...not greatly or poorly.
"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)
"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
It's sales were good, not great for the franchise.
Like Kingowhale said: it didn't expand the market.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
it is a flop in jpn (wrst selling)
massive success in west like i hve sed before. (one ov th best selling)

I'm getting tired of all of you complaining about how FF13 sucked because of the 360.
Shut up.

While I think it sold quite well for what it is, I do think the game will ultimately hurt future Final Fantasy games, as the game was fun but not a must buy and if future games are the same way Final Fantasy will not sell based off of brand recognition any more!
We did discuss this a bit on the other thread, and i still think the EU sales are amazing. it only needs about 0.4 - 0.5 mil to reach FF10 sales in the EU. and thats less than half of whats its already sold in Europe (in 10 weeks), so its on the way to becoming the 2nd best selling FF in Europe (maybe more).
And it has about 1 mil to go in the US to reach FF10. so i would say if theres enough to carry it until next year, it will be the second best selling FF in the US and EU. if the legs can hold up as well as other popular games (Assassin's Creed, Gran Turismo etc), it could reach even higher numbers. but it has been the fastest selling FF ever, which is also really good news.
so at the moment its a success i think, but we need to wait a few more months to see if it can sell about a mil more in US and EU to be a phenominal success. but i would also agree with Akibafan, that the JP sales are disspointing, even worst than FF6.

This, also they lost a HUGE share in the japanesse market. this game is on track of selling sell 10-15% more than FFXII WW and that one is consirered a failure.
