Forums - PC Discussion - Is apple new evel empire ?

Apple wants to control everything ever since Machintosh, software, hardware, everything.

So Bill Gates created this age of IT by allowing his Windows to run on all types of proprietary hardware, and by doing so we can have Intel, AMD, ATI, Nvidia, Creative, and all sorts of different chipsets for us to choose from. And with Windows, we can have HP, Compaq, Dell, Asus, Acer, Toshiba and Sony Vaio, all different kinds of computer brands.

If there was no Bill Gate, shudders, where will we be now under the iron rule of Apple? Will we ever see freeware like GIMP or Open Office?

So I still prefer Android phones over Iphones, caused its open-source and support more phone companies. Iphone is cool, but if everyone has only one ultimate choice of smartphone, its not cool anymore.

Evil empire? No, i'd say they're more like an evil dictatorship is a moderatly sized country. Kinda like how iraq was.

Besides, there's no such thing as "evil" when it comes to hardware corporations.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Apple's iPhone is the current "hot" thing.

But if it gets to a point of being too costly or too little functions on it (in other words, if the price is kept artificially high compared to alternative products and Flash defeats HTML5), then it could fall.

Technology changes. No one stays on top for very long. And backing the wrong standard can be costly.

Plus, the lack of full compatibility with major business functions may limit the iPhone. I can get Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on my phone -- the iPhone can't. (And it is a relatively unintelligent WM 6.1)

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I think so. Whoever sells a $260 product for $499 is evil without a doubt.

I have a program on my iphone called "docstogo" that lets me create, edit, email and sort word, excel and powerpoint docs with no problems on my iphone. As they say in the commercial there's an app for that (in fact there are several others I don't use. It cost me less then 10 bucks.

You can also use pages, keynote and numbers to make full featured documents that can be exported to word/excel/powerpoint on the ipad really easily with full external keyboard support.

Too costly and too little functionality is the story of the Windows mobile and Blackberry worlds not the iphone (and to a lesser extend Android which is more or less iphone lite).

You've obviously never worked in operations. You'd be amazed how much more things sell for then what they cost.

Here's an example. I worked for a company that made skateboards that sold in places like Target. The skateboard would cost about 3 dollars in materials, less then a dollar in labor and shipping for a total of around 4 bucks. We would sell it to target for about 9 bucks and Target would in turn sell it for 19.99 or a 500% markup. I mean really a under 100% markup from production to sale is pretty tiny compared with most products you buy.

Not quite yet that is Sons of Darkness and the Greenskins. Though apple is differently not part of the Warriors of Light

They aren't evil. To call their ability to make $260 worth of materials worth $499 evil would be to say the entire free market economy is evil.

If judging evil by their actions then both Sony and Microsoft would be more evil and better worth your attention.

Tease.

Thinking again, Apple is really evil! Apparently, they don't limit your freedom, you can always choose something else, you'd think, but ACTUALLY THEY DO: they have the monopoly of the best FART SIMULATORS! Yes, you can choose competing platforms, but you'll have to settle for inferior, third grade fart simulators, PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW! And just think about the strange couple, Steve Jobs and farts, that's enough to shudder! This matter stinks, can't you smell the reek of creeping monopoly?
