Apple's iPhone is the current "hot" thing.

But if it gets to a point of being too costly or too little functions on it (in other words, if the price is kept artificially high compared to alternative products and Flash defeats HTML5), then it could fall.

Technology changes. No one stays on top for very long. And backing the wrong standard can be costly.

Plus, the lack of full compatibility with major business functions may limit the iPhone. I can get Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on my phone -- the iPhone can't. (And it is a relatively unintelligent WM 6.1)

I have a program on my iphone called "docstogo" that lets me create, edit, email and sort word, excel and powerpoint docs with no problems on my iphone. As they say in the commercial there's an app for that (in fact there are several others I don't use. It cost me less then 10 bucks.

You can also use pages, keynote and numbers to make full featured documents that can be exported to word/excel/powerpoint on the ipad really easily with full external keyboard support.

Too costly and too little functionality is the story of the Windows mobile and Blackberry worlds not the iphone (and to a lesser extend Android which is more or less iphone lite).
