I think people are misinterpreting this thread on purpose, whilst I agree the thread is incorrect, I don't think TC is referring to the exact location the consoles are made.

You mean in the Republic of China right ? |
It's Taiwan (not China) to me but i see your point.
woah woah woah, everyone needs to chill, maybe I didn't stress enough how I wasn't making a generalisation of the whole US citizens,I was just merely saying that there are a few of them who have a mindset of what I'm talking about.
I wouldn't really expect any of you to totally 100% understand it as you all look past where a console was made, but then a majority of people on this site, especially those posting on threads are probably not as casual as the audience I'm talking about.
I'm honestly talking about a small amount of american 360 owners. And with an amount as small as I'm talking about,I think it's fair to say they chose the 360 because they take pride in the fact it's known to come from an american company.Even if it is mass produced in china.
I didn't mean to offend anyone.

Not all of them no,but yes I believe there is a number of Americans who have that mindset. In most american made movies or tv series where there's a family,a house in the suburbs and the sort of perfect lifestyle that can only be witnessed in tv or film, there's an Xbox I find. And it's not just 360's,back when the PS2 was giving the original Xbox a thoroughly good hiding in terms of sales, the Xbox was still the console you would see. Now this isn't a blast at the USA,most members of this site are longtime gamers that look past where a console was made, but the more casual US citizen, who only picks up a console now and then, like a bachelor or a surburban family, they probably do.If I had to put a number on the amount of americans who take pride in having a truly american console,I'd say it's between 1-5 million of the 20 million or so sold in the USA. feel free to disagree. |
I'd say no. Remember, when video game systems appear in the background of shows, it's not an arbitrary choice - the console maker probably paid for product placement. Microsoft is very good about PR... they likely have contracts with networks or studios to just kinda toss in their system in the background in situations like that.

I don't believe I received a 7 days ban for this. But what ever. A BIG thank you to MaxwellGT2000 for lifting my ban.
