Now that the new Nintendo system has been unveiled, I wonder if...or when...john lucas will grace us with his presence and explain why itīll sell a bazillion units.

240 million units lifetime, incoming! I already wrote it on his wall. I sometimes wonder what happened to his time, he seems to have plenty of it for discussions on other forums. I'm guessing we'll get some sort of crazy thread and prediction where it was all part of the master plan all along. The Wii U set the stage for the NS or something like that, making consumers accustomed to the tablet controller, associating Nintendo mascots and IP's with mobile customers and then this; it was all planned, perfectly at that. Wait & SEE. Just WAIT. &. SEE.

4K Netflix is actually 15mbps + 3mbps HDR extension. It's comparable to 1080p blu-ray as h.265 is about twice as efficient as h.264, however that 15mbps includes sound on Netflix, on Blu-ray lossless sound can already take up 5.5 mbps. Blu-ray sustains up to 54 mbps all combined.

It's a big step up from 1080p netflix at h.264 5mbps including sound. Compating 4K blu-ray to Netflix (even their ultra quality at 10mbps) will blow everyone away. However a proper upscaled blu-ray is not that far off from a studio upscaled 4K UHD disc (made from a 2k master which most still are)

Interesting! I used to be able to see the bit rate on Netflix on my PS3 before, but I can't see it on the TV app or the PS4 app and my rig doesn't have a 4k monitor. I seem to remember blu-ray being about 50 mbps at least, with uncompressed sound anyway. Luke Cage on Netflix actually looks pretty good in 4k, I suspect that since it's a brand new production, some actual thought and tech went into making the image 4k ready.

    on 12 October 2016

Funny thing, the 192khz lossless soundtrack of Akira runs at 15mbps, matching the entire bitrate for 4K netflix.
But indeed 4K Netflix at 15 mbps is 6 times as good as 1080p Netflix since it uses the more advanced HEVC encoding. It would be nice if they used that for 1080p too. (I though Netflix had 10mbps option for 1080p as well, maybe not anymore and that became the 4K tier)
I wish it had an option to downscale 4K Netflix to 1080p, that should look pretty close to blu-ray.
Luke Cage is filmed with Red Epic Dragon 6K cameras, so yep should look good down sampled to 4K.

Now go buy Ratchet & Clank asap.

    on 22 May 2016

I intend to, one of my fav series since the PS2! :-) Hoping for more Jak & Daxter as well!

    on 22 May 2016

Jak and Daxter unfortunately seems like it won't happen, ND don't want to do it (and in light of the concept art for Jak 4, I don't think I want them to...) Of course, they might get another studio to do it, like they did with Sly 4.

Only problem is, I want it to be like Jak 1, not Jak 2 and 3 :-(

    on 22 May 2016

I liked both Jak 1 and 2, 3 not so much, still a good game in its own right but they made it too gloomy and "mature" in my opinion. I hear that ND are working on another The Last of Us though, which is stellar news if true, I could take some more of that!

When did you move to Sweden?

    About two years ago!

    on 01 November 2015

Well, all kinds of strange thing happen when one's away from the site. :D

    on 01 November 2015

Ha! Yeah, I also had a hiatus a while back. I was actually a mod for about a year or so as well. You're one of the few members in here that I remember from the beginning when I first posted here.

    on 03 November 2015

Back in 2007 there weren't that many active members, so it's easier to remember the active posters back then. Also, having had the same avatar for years definately helps. I see a lot of people have switched their avatars into some anime avatars from the old ones I'd have recognised.

So, how's it been in Sweden?

    on 03 November 2015

I actually have the same exact avatar after 8 years +, only in a higher resolution!

Sweden is nice, a bit too hot politically for my taste but Stockholm is fantastic. I've had a much easier time getting jobs, apartments and other things here than I ever did back in Norway.

    on 03 November 2015

That's because you're an immigrant in Sweden, and if they don't hire you, they're racists. Hahaha.

I think it's pretty wild in Sweden nowdays. Interesting to see what happens, as all the other parties said they're not going to business with the Swerigedemocrats, and the bigger fuckheads others are, the more popular the party is getting.

    on 03 November 2015

Yeah, the extreme left is pushing and shoving and don't understand that this causes their counterpart to grow. It's actually rather fascinating to watch and read.

    on 03 November 2015

Yes, and the irony is, that as the right- and left wing coalitions have teamed up against the SD, it have made the party much more powerful than the 12% of votes it had would account for. New elections would solve the issue - but nobody wants new elections, as surveys suggest SD would be the biggest party by far.

I much prefer informative LPs, or even better commentary-free playthroughs. I don't much care for LP's...
