A few years ago, I ran a 5K with friends for kidney disease research and one of my friends had spotted a guy who was running at about the same pace as him and made it his goal to cross the finish line before him... which he did.

Later during the award ceremony, they asked this guy to speak because it turned out he had been on dialysis for the last year or so. My friend told us "Damn, I feel like such an asshole, right now!"

Your post reminded me of that.

    Ouch! :O

Our discussion reminded me that we're both on the verge of our 10 year anniversary on VGC. Time flies!

Haha, I just noticed that myself! That's crazy, I've moved 8 times since I joined the site... :O Not many 07 members left, and only a couple of 06. I believe superchunk might be the oldest active member here today.

No way man haha, I'm not even into videogames any more, last xbox game I bought was like Trackmania is 2015? Hope you're well anyway dude!

Holy hell! He's alive! :) Been ages, hope you're living the life, games or no games! I'm just doing the same old stuff; working crazy hours, trying to save up and pay fierce rents. And gaming, of course, just bought Skyrim SE and modded the hell out of it. :P

Now that the new Nintendo system has been unveiled, I wonder if...or when...john lucas will grace us with his presence and explain why itīll sell a bazillion units.

240 million units lifetime, incoming! I already wrote it on his wall. I sometimes wonder what happened to his time, he seems to have plenty of it for discussions on other forums. I'm guessing we'll get some sort of crazy thread and prediction where it was all part of the master plan all along. The Wii U set the stage for the NS or something like that, making consumers accustomed to the tablet controller, associating Nintendo mascots and IP's with mobile customers and then this; it was all planned, perfectly at that. Wait & SEE. Just WAIT. &. SEE.

4K Netflix is actually 15mbps + 3mbps HDR extension. It's comparable to 1080p blu-ray as h.265 is about twice as efficient as h.264, however that 15mbps includes sound on Netflix, on Blu-ray lossless sound can already take up 5.5 mbps. Blu-ray sustains up to 54 mbps all combined.

It's a big step up from 1080p netflix at h.264 5mbps including sound. Compating 4K blu-ray to Netflix (even their ultra quality at 10mbps) will blow everyone away. However a proper upscaled blu-ray is not that far off from a studio upscaled 4K UHD disc (made from a 2k master which most still are)

Interesting! I used to be able to see the bit rate on Netflix on my PS3 before, but I can't see it on the TV app or the PS4 app and my rig doesn't have a 4k monitor. I seem to remember blu-ray being about 50 mbps at least, with uncompressed sound anyway. Luke Cage on Netflix actually looks pretty good in 4k, I suspect that since it's a brand new production, some actual thought and tech went into making the image 4k ready.

Funny thing, the 192khz lossless soundtrack of Akira runs at 15mbps, matching the entire bitrate for 4K netflix.
But indeed 4K Netflix at 15 mbps is 6 times as good as 1080p Netflix since it uses the more advanced HEVC encoding. It would be nice if they used that for 1080p too. (I though Netflix had 10mbps option for 1080p as well, maybe not anymore and that became the 4K tier)
I wish it had an option to downscale 4K Netflix to 1080p, that should look pretty close to blu-ray.
Luke Cage is filmed with Red Epic Dragon 6K cameras, so yep should look good down sampled to 4K.

It's equal parts funny and sad that community workaround and solutions have solved nearly all major issues in the last 3-4 major Bethesda titles. Fallout 76: A Flop?

in Gaming Discussion 2 days ago

Bethesda have made their name on huge single player RPG's with immense focus on and support for UGC. Let's hope they're not surprised when the same fans don't really want this online only experience that no one really asked for to begin with. This is what happens when the big boys jump onto trends fronted by other and smaller companies while trying to drag their mos popular IP's with them to draw...
