Bonafide732 said: im sorry but this game is not gonna move 360s off japanese shelves.. 10k at the most like you said but thats it and it will only last a week... i dont care if no games came out for the ps3 or wii that whole month it will not move more than that and you can quote me on that.. capcom is seemingly siding with microsoft for nex gen consoles anyway.. . seems like all their games are going multi.. maybe they just wanna make more money... they are supportin the psp and ds like crazy
Last time I checked, if the 360 moved 10k units of h/w due to 1 game its a VERY GOOD thing. That'd be an increase of more units than any game saw last year (except for Blue Dragon). Anyways, it's a very positive move for the 360 and Capcom. It shouldn't hurt PS3 sales, and I'd think that DMC4 should get around 70-85k sales in Japan on 360, and maybe 500k in the US (a solid increase for the series since it'd be MP and do good PS3 numbers too)

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It's terrible news for Sony because it means that it lost another exclusive series. The Devil May Cry series, like the GTA series, called the Playstation it's home. So instead of being a reason to get a PS3, it's now a game that you can get on the 360, which is a cheaper system and in more homes. As for the reflection of current environment argument. There's truth to fact that rising dev costs are pushing more games multi platform. But there are still plenty of third party console exclusive games. Right now they seem to be finding their home on the 360 and Wii. The PS2 was the home to third party exclusives because of it's large sales base. The PS3 just isn't going to have the same sales base and is bleeding exclusives because of it.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Seriously is it that bad? Two koei games(fatal inertia and bladestorm) , Virtua fighter 5, and devil may cry 4 are the only games that I can recall being named PS3 exclusives. People expect certain games to be exclusives but that is different than reality. Who here knows what is really going on? Is this a coup or is this done on purpose? I think speculation has opened the doors for hopes and wishes. EDIT: @ TheSource Your lack of progressive scan is really starting to irk me man........ get with the times.

It's not just the lost exclusive games, but the lost exclusive series. GTA is still the biggest example. I'm not saying anyone is trying to bring down Sony. But it's just the case that the playstation isn't going to have the same userbase advantage that it's previous outings had, and it'll suffer in the games department for that very reason.

I still don't think that this is that significant. Watch these companies reverse themselves as soon as higher hardware sales from the EU launch and home come out, price cuts, blu-ray's dominance etc. This is comparable to a couple of soldiers of one side falling in a battle, not a determining event at all....

EU Launch - How will being third place in another market change anything? Price cut - How will 2009's console pricing effect the next two years of announcements? Blu-ray - How a high def format war that will take years to play out and much longer to triumph over the current format effect the next 2, 3 or 6 years of game exclusives? soldiers falling in battle - It's more like rats fleeing a sinking ship No I don't think the ps3 is sinking! It's just sagging a little.

1. The EU launch will help in two ways. One it will jack worldwide sales up, which will increase Sony's profit margin and therefore ability to make further price cuts down the road. The more games sold for Sony the more software support will come to them. 2. Price and performance are the only two things that matter. Thats it. If you have 3 similar products, one a budget, another a higher priced model out of the reach of many consumers an equal price-cut by all will aid the highest priced model the most. Are you saying that price is irrelevant? If you are arguing for the PS3's demise or even low sales for the future, then you should argue that prices DO matter, b/c that is why the PS3 is failing....sorry but this question made me laugh. 3. The high-def battle will not take years. If blu-ray is ALREADY selling 3:1 over its competitor the end has to be near. So you think that when it gets down to 10:1 that microsoft will keep going against all odds? Won't happen.

So you think that when it gets down to 10:1 that microsoft will keep going against all odds? Won't happen. Isn't DVD outselling blu-ray and hd-dvd combined by like 10:1? It will take quite some time before any HD-format can out-perform the old standard. Xbox360/PS3 also seem to have problems to outsell PS2.
Comparing the next-generation of DVD's to sales of the previous is faulty, b/c the newer gen's sales will always be lower. Hybrid sales are lower than cars powered only by combustion engines, the intel core 2 duo is going to sell much higher for a while than the core 2 quatro, etc. Now, what matters are the sales of the blu-ray to the HDVDD in terms of who will win. The corporate analysts have already determined that high-def DVD's are here to stay the only question is who will lead the way.

See I believe that the ps3 is sinking, because fanboys have always stated that the ps3 exclusives will come and turn the ps3 into the dominant console. But the problem is that the ps3 will not get its exclusives unless it has a userbase. As of right now, 360 exclusives are more likely to stay exclusive unlike it's competitor.

Well, the next few months will be critical either way. I'm obviously rooting for Sony, but I guess we'll just have to see.
