I think that people take news of software companies moves to other platforms as a leading indicator of a company's fortunes, when it is in fact merely a reflection of the current environment. As Sony gets its act in gear, look for more and more exclusive PS3 titles.
It's terrible news for Sony because it means that it lost another exclusive series. The Devil May Cry series, like the GTA series, called the Playstation it's home. So instead of being a reason to get a PS3, it's now a game that you can get on the 360, which is a cheaper system and in more homes.
As for the reflection of current environment argument. There's truth to fact that rising dev costs are pushing more games multi platform. But there are still plenty of third party console exclusive games. Right now they seem to be finding their home on the 360 and Wii.
The PS2 was the home to third party exclusives because of it's large sales base. The PS3 just isn't going to have the same sales base and is bleeding exclusives because of it.
Seriously is it that bad? Two koei games(fatal inertia and bladestorm) , Virtua fighter 5, and devil may cry 4 are the only games that I can recall being named PS3 exclusives. People expect certain games to be exclusives but that is different than reality. Who here knows what is really going on? Is this a coup or is this done on purpose? I think speculation has opened the doors for hopes and wishes.
