According to Cory Barlog the creator of God of War they haven't even started to develop GOW3. I don't believe this has been mentioned here yet. Oddly he's working on what he calls a Family Ties RPG, if that's not a joke that is. Who knows it might be interesting, but I'm guessing Sony fans would rather see GOW3 instead.

Now because of this I hope I don't keep hearing GOW3 being mentioned as a reason the ps3 will sell well. I'm sure they will make it but if they didn't start yet the earliest the very earliest you'll see it is Winter 2009. 

I never understand why this game gets so much hype. I don't think either version is even in the top 50 PS2 games in sales.

Well seeing as God of War 2 has just been released around 2 months ago, this isn't surprising that GOW3 isn't started yet.

They will probably be looking at an end of 2008 or even 2009 release date.

Don't forget that GOW: Chains of Olympus is in development for the PSP anyway and will be out by the end of this year.

God of War 3 is being hype because its a great seris even though it doesn't sell like GTA4

I never thought they were developing it yet, but there were alot of Sony fans that kept listing it on a list of games coming to the ps3, granted it will eventually come, but I'm tired of people using a game that hasn't even started it's development, or been anounced as a reason to buy a system. I'm not against the ps3 just against people talking using unnanounced games in their arguments, and that's for any system.

God of War 3 is guaranteed to not hit until at least 2009, especially if they haven't started development yet.

And, personally, they'd have to do some totally new stuff for the next-gen offering, something that absolutely can't be done on a system of old, and not just prettier graphics or more enemies on the screen.

Expect GoW3 and Legend of Zelda: ???? to compete for GOTY of 2009 :)

 Since the new Zelda has supposedly been in development for a while now, I'm hoping we see it by 2008 year end. And since Nintendo doesnt' have a whole lot on it's plate in 2008 it may push for release then. Yet with it being a departure for the serious there may be inherent complications with getting it out on time.

I was going to say "Of course both of the GoW games are in the top 50 best selling PS2 games, they were both million sellers!" but then checked the list and realised a game has to sell 3M+ to make it to the top 50 best sellers. Guess I'm still thinking in Gamecube numbers. =P

Both games were very much fun, even though they did have some very serious flaws. The story started getting extremely intersting by the end of the second game, and I can't wait to see what happens in the third part, assuming Sony is still in the console business long enough for it to get released.
