 We have a winner! OP should start thinking of things to say, rather than taking everyone elses opinion and meshing into one.

Personally, I really couldn't care less if MS "Steal" ideas off of other companies.

1) Every industry does it. Case in point, every generic MP3 player that has stolen Ipod's structure and design.

2) Motion controller was not invented by the Wii or even Nintendo for that matter. Making it mainstream doesn't equal inventing it. Therefore Microsoft is stealing from another stealer.

3) Blu-Ray is the next generation DVD format. Did you call the Xbox a copy of the PS2 because it had a DVD drive.... what about the Wii using a DVD drive?

4) As others have mentioned, without MS there would be no competition. We'd still be playing offline and console FPS will still be years behind it's PC brothers.

5) Actually, it was Sony who tried to monopolise the market last generation and Nintendo trying to do it this generation. Be glad that Microsoft is actually forcing competition rather than say that it's trying to take over every market (Did you not realise Sony has it's fingers dipped into Music, Home Entertainment, Mobile Phones, Gaming, Film industry. What do you call that? Sony spreading the love?).

 

Just another "I Hate Microsoft Thread"...

Microsoft is a software company not a hardware company so I can agree that the hardware isn't anything to write home about...

But on the software side...

Many games that MGS put out are high quality and have many innovative ideas.

The online gaming portion of 360 is running circles around the other consoles and tha fact that Home is taking years more to put out shows how far ahead Microsoft is.

The integration with Windows Media Center and in game music player is second to none.

Movie downloads actually work and are viable if you have high speed internet (something I thought was still 10 years away).

Yeah and they like totally copied Sony by putting a DVD drive in the original Xbox and totally copied Sega for putting an online system on a console.

And zomg! I just remembered everyones copied the Magnavox Odyssey by creating a games console! WTF everyone's copied everyone!!11 :(:(:( Dey all gonna be EAz vry soone!

It was the Magnavox Odyssey and yes that's the point. You can't say that Microsoft is unoiginal and copies ideas because that argument can be thrown at any console manufacturer without exception. Nobody in this topic denies that Microsoft has used others' ideas, we just realize these othe console makers also copy from Microsoft, themselves and others all the time.

 

What a bold topic this is. Straight forward and dumb. Well not really, but partially. MS did something original right now and that's XBL and the achievements. Other than that MS did offer something that made me buy it. Exclusive games.

The things I'd hate about MS is actually the controller and RROD.

Of all the controllers I've held so far this is the most uncomfortable for me. Maybe because I prefer the Dual Shock Controller. (IT'S AN OPINION)

weather microsoft is doing well or not competition is healthy for the market and its only the consumers who truly win in the end, just think what things would be like say if it was just Sony doing consoles or nintendo or just microsoft, we would be paying for them out our ears with probably crap games.

So the Xbox 360 is now going to come standard with a blu ray drive and all older models will be discontinued? Oh wait, no thats not what is happening at all. They are contemplating making a blu-ray add-on like they said they would when they released the HD-DVD add-on. Further, they critisized Sony for forcing consumers to buy the blu-ray feature. Since the add-on will do nothing but let you play movies (if it even exists) they will not be forcing their consumers to buy it. They will be giving their consumers the option to buy it. Your irrational fanboyism is annoying, but hopefully you will soon get banned for it. Why hasn't this thread been locked yet?
