Countdown to Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Countdown to Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I've only played the Gamecube AC.  It was decent at first, but I got bored with it pretty quickly.

However, something about the Switch AC looks very intriguing.  This might be the game that sucks me back into Animal Crossing.  I've got a good feeling about this game.  I think it will set records for the Animal Crossing series.  Also, my daughter and her friend are both really excited for it.

Personally I want to know as little as possible about the game. This current gaming culture wants everyone else to play the game for them first.

That's good culture, smarter to know what you'd be buying before you buy it. If you want to take the risk and stay in the dark you're free to do that of course.

Interesting. The series certainly isn't for everyone. The original is actually my second-favorite after New Leaf. I even put some decent time into it this year, nearly 12 years after making my file. I do think New Horizons will be the most complete and accessible installment of the series to date, but we'll have to see.

For those of you who have significant others or siblings who are very interested in the game and you only have a passing interest, try setting up a house on their island (or however same Switch gameplay will work for this title). You'll enhance their gameplay dramatically and you might even start to understand what makes this game such a great seller. There's quite a lot to be desired about this game for its single player aspects, but it's really the asynchronous multiplayer where this game shines.

That first line is the exact same with me, for a second I thought I must have wrote that haha. But I'm not at all interested in the Switch version. I'm sure it'll sell like crazy though.

I put a lot of time into the Gamecube Animal Crossing. My best friend from high school and I had found an item checklist on GameFAQs and we printed out copies of it for each of us. It had fish, bugs, gyroids, villagers, music, items, upgrades, etcetera. And we played legit for months, but eventually we started changing the clock to get some things we were missing.

I haven't put nearly as much time into any other AC game since, so I hope that New Horizons makes me as excited for AC as I was on the Gamecube. My daughter will be six years old and is learning to read at the moment, and this will be the perfect game for us to play together. Can't wait!

Unless you're a Lonely. D:

But you're totally right, and now the local multiplayer isn't strictly asynchronous, you can have two players on one Switch playing at the same time.

How does that work? Split screen? Will it seamlessly allow people to jump in and out of the game without interrupting the other person? Will I be able to use two Switches for convenience instead of just one? I'm assuming these questions don't have answers yet, but I haven't heard about this feature yet and I'm skeptical. If done right, this could be a ton of fun. (I never tried simultaneous multiplayer on the 3DS game, so I don't know if these are things they have already gotten right in the past.)

@15:00 you can see it in action. Local wireless and online are confirmed to return though we don't know how they'll work yet, but visiting towns should be similar to previous games.
