Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales (Week 26) Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - June 25 - July 1, 2018

It will be good if Switch can be around 50k in following weeks, PS4 dont have nothing soon and we probably won't see 20k+ week for quite time.

When Pokemon, Tomodachi and AC all arrive and the is an official price cut I think the baseline could start going back into territory that portables average, you may actually could get weeks where the chart looks like Pacman.

Wonder how high Switch will go when Octopath Traveler is released

The week of July 13 will be great. Octopath Traveler, Captain Toad & Splatoon 2 bundle all release the same day.

There is a new Splatoon-bundle? No way Switch will sell less than 100k then

Thanks for the source. He's a pretty trustworthy guy, but I do wish he'd post numbers. From his later conversation where he gave some Ys sales, it looks like we're talking about peanuts though. Happy Switch version had a good FW in West. Hopefully it's well received and it's able to pass up LT sales too.

NISA has brought such an interesting paradigm to niche JRPGs. Almost everything they've brought has done very well on Switch in the West while its JP release completely flops.

Yeah... Its only ahead of PS4 and PSV individually and only launch aligned in the west, of which both the PS4 and PSV versions launched at the exact same time so it would be no surprise that the audience was divided. Its definitely not blowing sales out of the water, but it is a good indicator for falcom on a potential audience. I imagine western sales are still quite poor compared to Japan sales for PS4, so it is unlikely that they... switch their main platform. But in the west Switch might be the bigger audience, if sales hold strong.

Lastly I am pretty sure NIS or NISA would have nothing to do with Ys VIII in Japan. Unless that was just a side comment.

It was more of a side comment, but relevant because Western sales have influence of decision making. Almost never at the expense of Japanese sales, but the Western sales of these games on Switch make up for the poor domestic showing.

Is that the same bundle as before? Or something to do with the expansion pack?

I believe it's a bundle with colored joycons, 90-day trial of of Nintendo Switch Online, a carrying case and the full game download.

Switch still on the rise I see, looking forward to Octopath Traveler launch!

Wow, looking at all those evergreens hanging out in the top 10, The Switch has gone from disrupter to the establishment in Japan.
