Thank fucking NeoGAF moderation for permabanning my friend NPD George / NDP Mulcair.

George / Mulcair is from The NPD Group. He's my contact at the agency in Port Washington. I helped him set up an account and actually was able to convince NPD that it was a good idea to help out GAF / other sites with some official information starting with October 2015 NPD.

But apparently that piece of shit admin Stumpokapow decided to ruin a perfectly good thing and permaban my friend because they got into their stupid little heads that he was "my alt account" which doesn't make any sense. I set up his profile on my computer and then told him the login and password because he's not very good with forums, and apparently that's "proof of an alt account" despite him clearly being a very different poster than I was.

I tried to get back on NeoGAF in the past...I reached out to the mods to be unbanned at multiple points...but they have completely ignored me. So I thought bringing George to GAF could act as a good replacement for data so everyone didn't always have to rely on leaks.

But apparently the arrogance and elitism of the NeoGAF moderators knows no bounds, and they'd rather stick to their draconian ways instead of getting more of a good thing. So you know what? Fuck them. We're done.

We all think it's utterly ridiculous that they're acting like children. This incident has really soured our opinion of the forum. But hey, what can you do? NeoGAF is really going downhill. I'm finally starting to understand why there is so much hatred against them on the Internet.

I have nothing against Chartz forums or any of you guys. NPD used to be really draconian last year so I was pressured pretty hardcore into trying to stop leaks but they've got new management lately that has been more open towards sharing tidbits of data (like hardware), hence the existence of NPD George / NDP Mulcair. This incident will probably close everything down again, which sucks.

If I can leak something here in the future with the permission of NPD I will, but it's probably unlikely.

Creamsugar, John Harker, and CosmicQueso are the three NPD leakers on GAF that have data. They all leak stuff every month, although Creamsugar leaks the most and is the most visible.

The NPD Group knows about each one of them (Creamsugar is from China, John Harker is from Ubisoft, and CosmicQueso is probably some analyst from California, but they don't know anything beyond that) so they're powerless to stop them. They only got me because they were able to figure out who I was at JPMorgan Chase. I know people there so I tried negotiating with them.

It's through their existence that I was eventually able to soften them up and get them to consider revealing things themselves. The data was going to be leaked anyway, and it's not enough leaks to go through the effort suing NeoGAF or giving them a C&D (like they did back in 2007), so might as well reveal them yourselves.

But George was really shocked they would decide to perma-ban them. That's not going over well at all with this experiment, which is why the whole ordeal is so fucking frustrating. Then again, I've read horror stories about the incompetency of NeoGAF moderation in the past, so it really doesn't surprise me how they're acting this time around.

There's no point trying to post it publicly there because mods will just delete and ban and spin some bullshit lies to protect their dictatorship, but there are some genuinely good guys there that I wanted to help out who should know how shitty NeoGAF moderation really is.

There's also a bunch of good guys here. But I'm inherently linked to NPD at this point and they look at what data gets posted on Chartz so if I were to go back to leaking NPD data it has to be made with their permission...and I really don't know if that can happen now that NeoGAF mods fucked up the whole NPD George / NDP Mulcair experiment. I'll try my best, but no promises.

At least you guys got three good months.

And for sales in the first 8-10 weeks or so, Halo 5 sold nearly 60% fewer copies than Halo 2, 3, & Reach and about 62.8% fewer copies than Halo 4. That's a massive drop. It even sold less at retail than ODST did, and that was a spin-off of Halo 3 that didn't have a proper competitive multiplayer component and whose Campaign was substantially shorter than the others. Even if we add bundles and assume roughly 20% of sales were digital, we're still talking about maybe 2.3M tops, which is only slightly ahead of ODST and way behind any of the main series games.

That being said. Halo 5 still managed to do better than every other exclusive game this year. Those 1.7 million copies are still good numbers for an exclusive. I think this shows us not only that Halo has lost a massive chunk of its audience, but that at its peak Halo was as an absolute phenomenon. Exclusive games just never really sold like that at launch. Halo 2's record-setting launch made the news, it was just that damn big, and Halo 3 was a record-setter itself, and was the best-selling non-Nintendo exclusive of the seventh generation. It was arguably the series that put preorders and midnight launches on the map. If you can lose over half of your audience and still rank among the best-selling exclusives around, that says something about how big your series was at the height of its popularity. Halo isn't the titan it once was, but it definitely isn't doing poorly.

Bo3 should be higher than the past 3 installmentswith digital while halo 5 should be above ODST

Vgchartz is far better. Don't be an ass and blow your head, you'll be fine here. The mods are far more lenient, and frankly they give plenty of chances before resulting to perma-bans.
