Forums - Gaming Discussion - New Splinter Cell game... not possible on PS3?

Why does everyone assume the devs were talking about graphics? Maybe the game is going to have some heavy online element that the PS3 isn't capable of... maybe they're going to take advantage of that keyboard attachment... you never know. Why's everyone assume they know so much about how the hardware works, anyway? "Better." Such a funny word. Even a small island nation is going to have a comparative advantage against the United States with *some* good, unless everything is directly proportional.

Well if it comes to AI, physics, or anything like that, the PS3 wins. It's called the Cell. The fastest math processor in the world.

If your talking about online. The 360 has some features with online the PS3 does not have. However the PS3 is capable of it. It just dosent have it yet.

Keyboard? What? Really? I have one on my PS3 right now, and I promise unless it is a 200$ keyboard, the one I have on it now, is MUCH nicer than any keyboard made for the PS3.

The only thing the 360 can possibly beat the PS3 on is the memory usage, and it's not that big of a diffrence. And looking at that game, it dont hold a finger to Heavenly Swords texture quality. So I'd be willing to bet, it's just becuae their crappy devs, and are being paid by microsoft.

*ANY GAME ANNOUNCED SO FAR IS LIKELY POSSIBLE ON BOTH CONSOLES*

There are a few PS3 games that need more CPU power than the 360 has, however to tweak the game slighly, it would look damn near as good, and work on the other console.

So far I have seen nothing from either console that is really better than the other can do. They are QUITE close in actual power.

That Splinter Cell won't work on the PS3, b/c of implied limitations imposed by hardware seems weak to me, especially b/c a big shooter like splinter cell, would work best on a decent platform that would get a lot out of its online capabilities.  Therefore the splinter cell people shouldn't mind being exclusive to the 360 as well as bad-mouthing rival platforms for PR.

Couldn't be even less interested, because i'm gonna get this game when it comes to Pc. ;)

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

I've seen this trash rehashed a countless times. Physics, yes. But what the hell does AI have to do with the math the Cell is so great at? Please, do enlighten me on the matter.

lol... all your one liner comments have kept a smile on my face while reading the posts tonight. It's a refreshing break in some heavily debated threads.

Sometimes it's nice to just drop the seriousness, kick back and have a laugh .

AI is simple math. It's series of scripts. The more complex the AI, the more scripts. The simpler... the less scripts. Either way, they are normally VERY simple, and because of that, the chip that wins for simple math, is the Cell.

Physics is typically much harder to do that AI. The Cell processor excels in smiple math.

Oh come on. You're not even trying. AI is about making decisions, not math.

Good luck with making graph search algorithms faster on the Cell. That, and using SPEs for multi agents systems.

So, let me get this straight, the Cell is better at AI than physics? Now you're just being funny.

PS3 will have everything Live has and more, you can already use any USB or bluetooth keyboard, mouse, webcam, and headset, and apparently the developer never actually said what the xbox website wanted them to have said.
