Thursday news, part two:

Two Point Hospital now has Workshop support and interior decorating
A free update has hit Two Point Hospital that lets hospital administrators finally add some custom touches to their rooms, including rugs, paintings, floors and walls. If you don't have time to make your own stunning wallpapers and awe-inspiring portraits, you can just download them from the Steam Workshop. If you do want to stretch your creative muscles, however, Two Point Studios has put together a quick video to get you started. Check it out above.

Watch Kabal demonstrate the most bonkers Mortal Kombat fatality I have ever seen
Mortal Kombat is famous for "fatalities," the over-the-top finishers that fighters can employ on one another to wrap up matches with a bang, or a splat as the case may be. There was a time when they were controversial, but these days they're a mass-market selling feature, barely worthy of a raised eyebrow.

Take-Two says the Epic Store is 'a good thing,' but exclusives sound very unlikely
The launch of the Epic Games Store has been surprisingly controversial, primarily because of Epic's willingness to spend some of that sweet Fortnite cash on high-profile exclusives. A number of gamers don't care for what they see as fragmentation of the market that's forcing them to use multiple storefronts and run multiple launchers: Steam, Origin, Uplay, Battle.net, Bethesda, and now Epic.

The Sims 4 adds new items to celebrate the Lunar New Year
In celebration, The Sims 4 released a new update with Lunar New Year items yesterday. The update includes festive outfits for all ages, new decor items like lanterns, a cute panda toddler toy, red envelops stuffed with Simoleons and good luck, and of course a pig statue with an infectious smile.

Wargroove uses a little-known Steam feature to great effect
I don't play many turn-based multiplayer games on Steam, which is why it took until Wargroove for me to discover the fantastic feature Steam calls Turn Notifications. Turn notifications are exactly what they sound like: Little pop-ups that tell you when you can make a move in a turn-based game. The pop-ups look just like the ones Steam uses to tell you a friend has just launched a game, or it's finished downloading something. This feature has existed since 2014! I had no idea, but it's supported by board games like Carcassonne and strategy games like Frozen Synapse. In Wargroove, it's implemented in a wonderful way that reminds me of how I played Advance Wars with my friends in the early 2000s.

Disney has a 'good relationship' with Electronic Arts, CEO says
"Over the years, as you know, we’ve tried our hand at self-publishing, we’ve bought companies, we’ve sold companies, we’ve bought developers, we’ve closed developers," Iger said. "And we’ve found over the years that we haven’t been particularly good at the self-publishing side, but we’ve been great at the licensing side which obviously doesn’t require that much allocation of capital."
"Since we’re allocating capital in other directions ... we’ve just decided that the best place for us to be in that space is licensing and not publishing. We’ve had good relationships with some of those we’re licensing to, notably EA and the relationship on the Star Wars properties, and we’re probably going to stay on that side of the business and put our capital elsewhere."

Space survival sim Astroneer has launched out of Early Access
After two years spent in Early Access, space survival sandbox Astroneer has launched into 1.0 today – there's a trailer to celebrate below. It's a co-op focused experience (though you can play solo if you want), with neat interplanetary travel across a handful of handcrafted (ie, not procedurally generated) planets. There's crafting, resource management, base building, and most importantly – planet terraforming, which actually looks pretty cool.

Capcom could've made Dragon's Dogma 2 over Devil May Cry 5
Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno apparently considered making Dragon's Dogma 2 rather than Devil May Cry 5, as reported in a recent interview.
Itsuno, director of Dragon's Dogma and the Devil May Cry series going back to the third entry, is said to have approached Capcom founder Kenzo Tsujimoto when talk of Devil May Cry 5 first arose, according to an interview with VG24/7. "Look, I want to make either Devil May Cry 5 or Dragon’s Dogma 2 next. He said ‘okay, do whatever you want. Do whichever one you want.’ So I thought, alright, y’know what… let’s do DMC5. So we did that.”

Total War: Three Kingdoms reveals playable Dong Zhuo in its latest trailer
The latest trailer from Total War: Three Kingdoms reveals its 12th playable faction, led by the ambitious and brutal Dong Zhuo.
The two-minute trailer, which you can watch above, gives us a glimpse at Dong Zhuo who rules by spreading fear and intimidation. He appears to leave most of the killing to his adopted son, Lü Bu—who just happens to be the greatest warrior in the land—making them a formidable duo that you really wouldn't want to mess with. Luckily you might not have to as Dong Zhou will appear as a playable faction once you reach the rank of Duke in the campaign.

Radeon 7 has actually surprised me somewhat.
It's performance still isn't making me run out and buy one though.

In general... Radeon 7 ends up being 5-6% slower than the Geforce 2080, so AMD is back in the high-end... But not Enthusiast/Ultra High-End.

Anandtech has also reaffirmed that Primitive Shaders need developers to support it still and is still disabled.
Vega's Next Gen Geometry isn't being fully used.
Intelligent Workgroup Distributor is working.
Draw Stream Binning Rasterizer is enabled on a per-game basis, basically whenever AMD gets around to enabling it in the drivers.

So there is still some potential performance for Vega to grab eventually... Especially geometry as one of GCN's biggest bottlenecks has always been geometry throughput.

Hm...slower, louder and hotter, on 7nm, than fairly unimpressive 2080 on 12nm...

At this rate, AMD will literally run out of physically possible die shrinks before they catch up with Nvidia's current power consumption performance.

Let's go with the final round of news for the week: the Friday news!

Apex Legends surpasses 10 million players in just three days
Apex Legends came out of nowhere and appears to be a really successful free to play title. In just three days, the game has surpassed over 10 million players and has breached 1 million concurrent players.
>> I wonder where those players come from, Fortnite or PUBG?

Axiom Verge is available for free on Epic’s store until February 21st
Epic Games and Thomas Happ Games are currently offering for free Axiom Verge on Epic’s digital store. Axiom Verge is an action-platform-exploration game that’s not only created in intricate detail in the style of classics such as Metroid, Contra, and Master Blaster, but uses old-school “glitches” as a gameplay feature.
PC gamers can visit the game’s Epic store page and acquire their free copy. Do note that this free offer will last until February 21st so make sure to get it while you still can (well… that is provided you are interested in it).
>> And it has been crashing for a while as it lacked a file named Steam.xnb .

Thimbleweed Park is the next free game on the Epic Games Store
If you haven't had the chance to pick it up yet, you're in luck—Thimbleweed Park is the next game to go free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time from February 21 until March 7.
The quirky, point and click murder mystery from the makers of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion is the latest game to go free on the Epic Games Store in a bid to draw in players from other platforms. What Remains of Edith Finch and Subnautica are just two of the games that have already received the treatment and if you haven't had a chance to grab it yet, Axiom Verge is currently free until February 21.
>> Another one I'll add to my backlog.

On the Humble Store there are two new deals:

And at Fanatical, there's also two new deals:

You can now play Supreme Commander 2 in co-op with up to four players
Remember Supreme Commander 2? You know, the strategy game that came out in 2010 and featured A LOT of units on screen? Well, for those three people that still remember and play it, modder ‘purplelf’ released a new mod that allows gamers to play the single-player campaign in co-op mode.
According to the modder, most single-player missions can be played with up to four players, with the exception of Illuminate 6 and Cybran 3 which only support up to three players because they require too many AIs.
>> Get this mod from Nexus Mods.

This Resident Evil 2 Remake mod brings back the classic UI from the original 1998 game
Resident Evil 2 fans, here is something really cool for you today. Modder ‘Crazy Potato’ has released a pretty cool mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake that brings back the classic UI from the original 1998 version. This mod hits all the nostalgia notes and is a must-have for all Resident Evil 2 fans out there.
Going into slightly more details, this mod adds a retro Health Bar, classic Save Icons, the classic UI and the classic red “Resident Evil 2” logo. These are subtle changes that will be appreciated by the fans of the original game, so go ahead and download the mod from here.
Another mod that passed under our radar was the Classic Claire Fix mod, that was created by the same modder, and gave Claire her iconic look back. You can download this mod for Claire from here.

Enderal: Forgotten Stories, the Skyrim total conversion mod, goes live on Steam next week
Jody reviewed the Skyrim total conversion mod Enderal back in August 2016, and liked it quite a bit. It wasn't enough to make Bethesda sweat, but he found it big and beefy, with a high quality of writing and better voice acting than you usually see in fan projects. A Steam page appeared last year, promising to eliminate the hassles involved with installing the mod, and today the developers announced that it will go live on February 14.
Like Skyrim, Enderal is an open world game, but with its own lore and landscapes, completely separate from The Elder Scrolls series. Gameplay has been "overhauled" with new classes, survival mechanics, and "challenging combat," and the Forgotten Stories version on Steam has been expanded with two new "crafting classes," 12 additional side quests and non-linear guild questlines, reworked crafting and spells, and improved performance and stability.
Possibly the biggest attraction is that the Steam release vastly simplifies the process of installing the thing. The original mod had to be downloaded and installed overtop of Skyrim, which is both a little daunting and not terribly convenient if you also want to continue playing Skyrim. Enderal: Forgotten Stories is entirely standalone. As long as you own either Skyrim Classic or Skyrim Legendary Edition—it doesn't have to be installed—you can install and play Enderal.

Here are the official PC requirements for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Activision and FromSoftware have revealed the official PC system requirements for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice via the game’s official Steam store page. From the looks of it, these requirements are similar to those for Dark Souls 3, meaning that those that were able to run DS3 will also be able to enjoy Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Final episode of the making of Metro Exodus released, features new gameplay footage
Deep Silver and 4A Games have released the final episode of The Making of Metro Exodus, serving as the conclusion to a three-part documentary series filmed on location in Kiev and Malta at 4A Games’ two studios as they put the finishing touches on the upcoming Metro Exodus.

God Eater 3 is now available and does not use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech
Now here is a pleasant surprise. Bandai Namco has just released God Eater 3 on the PC and contrary to Ace Combat 7, the game does not use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Now I don’t know why this game does not use it and Ace Combat 7 does, however the key point here is that this particular monster hunting game is not plagued by the controversial anti-tamper tech.

New World War Z gameplay trailer showcases Players vs Players vs Zombies
Saber Interactive has released a new trailer showing off the fast-paced and exciting gameplay of Players vs Players vs Zombies (PvPvZ) in World War Z, the highly anticipated game inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster action film. While World War Z’s core four-player co-op pits you against relentless swarms of AI zombies, PvPvZ offers a completely unique experience, challenging you to outlive both the living and the dead across a variety of competitive modes designed for 4v4 combat.

The Division 2 beta apparently needs a restart every two to three hours
The Division 2 private beta is now underway and Ubisoft has advised players to restart the game client "every two to three" hours to avoid crashes.
In an announcement on the official site yesterday, Ubisoft advised players that it's aware of some "high priority issues" present in the current beta. While the devs are keen to get them fixed, the workarounds offered should give players a better experience.

'Get some' extra XP and new skins in the Fortnite Share the Love event
Perhaps because my significant other walked out of the room when I asked her to spend Valentine's Day with me in Fortnite making a very large and powerful rendition of Shaggy out of van-sized bricks, Epic has announced the Share the Love event. It's set to run from February 8 to 27. More than enough time to make that big boy on my own.

The Elder Scrolls Online's 'ESO Plus' program is free to try until Tuesday
From now until February 12, ZeniMax Online Studios is offering a free trial of ESO Plus, the optional program that replaced conventional Elder Scrolls Online subscriptions in 2015. Players who opt in will have full access to all the zones, quests, dungeons, and other content offered in the DLC releases, double capacity at the Bank, a ten percent boost to experience and gold, and more.

Chainsaw wolves to death in this upcoming... train simulator?
As you can see above, the trailer for Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator looks like a trailer for a train simulator. At first. There's a train, some nice sectional views, and interactive first-person controls. That you're apparently smuggling contraband on your train is the first indication there's more to it than being just another train simulator, however. Soon the trailer shows broken windows with snow streaming in, and before you know it the train's operator is on the tracks cutting up a fallen tree and slicing into attacking wolves with a chainsaw.

Amid Evil's new trailer showcases the twin terrors of The Arcane Expanse
New Blood Interactive made quite a splash last year with the retro-flavored shooter Dusk, and now it's gearing up to roll out its next project, Amid Evil. It's been available in Early Access for almost a year now, but episode six, The Arcane Expanse, went live today and brought with it a new trailer showcasing "a non-Euclidian dimension of otherworldly design known to drive lesser beings insaaaaane."

Tom Hall would love to make a new Commander Keen game
Commander Keen in Keen Dreams released on Nintendo Switch today, which wouldn't be of much interest to us, if it weren't for that fact that it's prompted series co-creator Tom Hall to jump on reddit. Hall, who developed the game alongside John Carmack and John Romero, had some interesting things to say about efforts to develop new Keen games since the series' last instalment in 2001.

Hearts of Iron 4: Man the Guns release date set for later this month

Conqueror's Blade introduces open world in new beta
Few MMOs emphasize unity quite as heavily as Conqueror’s Blade. As an esteemed warlord, you - aided by your loyal subjects - must earn honor and glory to forge an enduring legacy. On the journey to greatness, treacherous foes lie aplenty, foes that demand masterful tactics to subjugate. Featuring historically accurate weapons and diverse customization options, no two battles are ever the same. Between February 7th to February 15th, players can enjoy an expanded open world in Conqueror’s Blade closed beta in addition to the siege game mode revealed in December.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18334 is available for download, brings Gaming Improvements
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18334 is currently available to all Windows Insiders. According to the team, this new build comes with some Gaming Improvements that the Insiders can test and offer their report/feedback to it.
Going into more details, Microsoft has brought technology tailor-made for gaming to Windows via this new build. Insiders will help the team validate these systems work as expected, and play State of Decay for free (limited time only!). Microsoft is interested to know whether there are any problems Insiders encounter with installing and launching the game.
From the looks of it, the State of Decay PC version is actually the Steam version and rumour has it that Microsoft may bring Win32 games with Steamworks to the Microsoft Store.

3DMark Port Royal – New official comparison video between TAA and DLSS
UL Benchmarks has released an official comparison video between the TAA and DLSS techniques that are being used in its latest real-time ray tracing benchmark tool, 3DMark Port Royal. This comparison video showcases the visual improvements that DLSS brings to the table, and we strongly suggest watching it.
As UL Benchmarks noted, this video compares the image quality of TAA and DLSS using a special version of the test that has a unique camera path that hasn’t been shared with NVIDIA. The free camera movement simulates a game where the player can move freely around the environment producing new, unique images that the DLSS model cannot possibly have seen before in its training.

NieR Automata mod released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and looks incredible
Modders ‘immyneedscake’ and ‘Rektas’ have released a NieR Automata mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This mod is based on the Nier Automata Armor by dint999 and contains 2B and A2 armor, thus allowing gamers to venture the world of Skyrim with one of the two cyborgs that were featured in NieR Automata.
This mod comes with proper physics a full BodySlide conversion of everything but the wigs and sword. The attention to detail is incredible and I’m pretty sure that a lot of Skyrim and NieR Automata fans will love this mod.
In order to install it, you’ll have to download the mod from here, build the outfit in BodySlide and get them through crafting, AddItemMenu or console command ‘help nier’.

You can now play as Kratos from PS4’s God of War in Skyrim thanks to this amazing mod
God of War and Skyrim fans, here is something for you today. Following our NieR Automata mod for Skyrim Special Edition, today we are presenting you another mod that brings Kratos from the latest Playstation 4 exclusive God of War game to Bethesda’s open-world RPG.
Created by modder ‘PotatoFactory’, this is just a simple character preset for Kratos from the newest God of War game. The preset also has the adjustments for the weapon placement (when they’re sheathed). His Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos are on his back (as it should be), just like in the original game, though you’ll probably have to install Racemenu (duh) and XPMSE for that to work properly.

Resident Evil 3 Reborn aims to faithfully remake a scene from RE3 in Unreal Engine 4 (WIP)
YouTube’s ‘unknownexe96’ has shared a video, showing a WIP scene from Resident Evil 3 being recreated in Unreal Engine 4. Now while this project is still a Work In Progress, unknownexe96 appears to be willing to release the map to the public once it’s been finished.
Unknownexe96 aims to remake Dario Rosso’s Shelter in 3D. Players will be able to explore it via fixed camera angles, thus giving everyone an idea of what a faithful remake – with fixed camera angles – of Resident Evil 3 could look like.

New comparison screenshots released for the upcoming new version of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project
Modder ‘Halk Hogan’ has released some new comparison screenshots between the upcoming version of his HD Reworked Project and the vanilla version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These new screenshots showcase some of the improved textures that Halk Hogan is bringing to the table. Moreover, the modder claimed that “something… like never before…” will be featured in this upcoming version.

You can now play as Triss Merigold from The Witcher 3 in Monster Hunter World
Now here is something cool. Monster Hunter: World’s Witcher 3 crossover event is live (on consoles, it will be coming to the PC later this year), allowing players to assume the role of Geralt of Rivia and slay some monsters. And if that wasn’t enough, a new mod has surfaced, allowing players to assume the role of Triss Merigold from The Witcher series in order to kill more monsters.
Now as you may have guessed, this is a 3D model replacement mod and nothing more. Contrary to the NieR Automata or the Final Fantasy XV Aranea mod, this mod appears to be closer to the Metroid Prime Samus mod.
Unfortunately, modder ‘crimsonfaust’ has not shared any additional details about this mod or whether there are plans to bring some of Merigold’s magic abilities to Capcom’s monster hunting title.
>> Download this mod from Nexus Mods.

An absolute legend has finally modded DMX into Resident Evil 2
We asked for it, and it happened. After people started making videos that overlaid the 2003 DMX single X Gon' Give it to Ya over the appearances of Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake, we were all waiting for an enterprising modder to make it real. And now, DJ Pop has done exactly that. You can find instructions for how to download and install the mod on Steam. God bless PC gaming.
As per the mod's description, it'll play when Mr. X appears in these locations
>> You'll have to check the article or the mod page to know where it appears.

This fan-made Battletech expansion adds a bunch of lore-friendly mechs
Battletech Extended 3025 adds plenty of lore-friendly mechs and variants to Battletech, and looks like a good excuse to jump back into one of the best PC games you can play right now.
"This mod mostly adds a ton of mechs, vehicles and variants, including new mechs you haven't seen elsewhere that are all Lore compliant for 3025," reads the Nexus Mods description. Factions will use the mechs that make sense to them, but occasionally they'll use another faction's gear—but again, only if it makes sense in the lore.

Doom megawad Eviternity hits final revision
Eviternity is a massive project put together by the Doom modding community consisting of six five-map episodes which use a new high-quality texture pack. The episodes each explore a different theme, with examples like "Icy castles", "Medieval", and "Industrial/Brutalism". Oh, and of course "Hell/Gore/Alien". There are a couple of secret maps as well, because what would Doom be without secrets?
Though it was initially released in December, Eviternity has just had a final revision, and you can read all about its changes here. Or you could just follow the instructions here to download all 49 or so megabytes of it.
