Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you preorder games?

I think the last game i pre ordered was Brawl when it came out in the UK. I never do it

I rarely buy games straight after their releases as well, its better to wait till the price drops.

I like to wait the problem is game publishers hype machines are so good these days I want to make sure the game is good before I buy

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Yea, but from Amazon only. I don't have to pay til it is delivered, it gets delivered for free, and if they run any specials between when I preorder and the game comes out I get those too. So far I've picked up a $10 coupon, and over $15 more off games.

Also, I only really preorder Nintendo 1st party games as those won't drop in price for years anyways, so it's just a matter of if I have the money now or not.

This.

Amazon's $10 credits rule.  I'll be getting FFXIII for $39 when it releases (which also comes with another $10 credit).  Hell, it might even drop 3-4 more bucks. I sometimes pre-order Atlus DS games if they come with soundtracks or artbooks.

360 Games Now Playing   360 Games unopened:  Resonance of Fate  Last 360 Game I Beat: Resident Evil 5

DS Games Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI  DS Games unopened Knights in the Nightmare, Etrian Odyssey III, Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX Last DS Game I beat: Radiant Historia

Wii Games Now Playing  Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia  Wii  Games unopened  Little King's Story, Sonic Colors, Silent Hill Shattered Memories Last Wii Game I beat: Sin & Punishment 2

In the UK if you pre order in a shop you don't have to pay until the day, so why not? You secure your copy in the chance they don't stock enough, get pre order bonuses and double points at GAME!

I always pre order

There's a nice GAME store very close to where I live. I've bought a couple of games there but turned down their membership offer. What do these points do?

NNNNEVAAARRRRR!

oh wait, I have twice.

Yes. Usually though I preorder only sequels because I know that I will get quality game.

I pre-ordered Legend of Zelda Wind Waker for the bonus disc (and then when the game came out, I didn't even buy it from Gamestop).

I pre-ordered Batman: AA

Aside from that, whenever I wanted a game, it was in store. I sorta wish I'd pre-ordered Mass Effect 2, though.

Every purchase you make gives points, these points translate to store credit, so effectively you save yourself a little cash each time you use the card.

Every £1 you spend = 10 points.

1000 points = £2.50 credit.  Doesn't seem much for spending £100.

However if you pre-order you get double points, so £40 for a typical PS3/360 games nets you £2.  If you buy often it quickly builds up.  Another benefit if you will quite often be offered special deals only available to card holders both in-store or online, or sometimes you get pre-order bonuses that people without cards do not get.

It isn't a massive deal, but the card only costs £3.   I got mine years ago for free, threw it in with my Gamecube purchase.

It would take ages for me to get enough credit for a free game then. Maybe I need to buy more games lol.

You'd be surprised, especially if you buy a console, that jacks up your points loads. It's worth it though, I got Fable II for next to nothing this way.

I only preorder for collector's edition due to the limited supply. But for a standard game i wouldnt because my game/electronic shops usually sell it for a higher price when half the time walmart would have it the same day for like $10 cheaper.
