Sounds to me like the PS3 is over-tracked if we are to go by this man's numbers, possibly by as much as a million.

On Topic: i wholly agree with the guy's view, PS3 will come back and take that second place, but natal could spoil its plans temporarily.

Looking at the mess that Toyota finds itself in right now, one can clearly see that not all engineering problems, ala RROD, were malicious, even if some disgruntled employee says so...and there hasn't been any fatalities from RRODs.  I'm not sure how arrogance fits into gettign a product to market...rushing...lol...funny.  Time will tell, but since the PS3...is nearly in the SAME position it was back in 2007, it's somewhat cocky to say we got this in the bag.

Well the 360 lead was 8 million and now Sony has it down to 5.5 million and dropping.

I believe FF Versus XIII as an exclusive for the PS3 worldwide later this year will move more consoles than Halo: Reach.

I like to say this again and again, but even if the PS3 overtakes the Xbox 360 worldwide, they will still lose this gen.

I think the downfall of the PS3 is legendary. It will be lucky to get 50% of the sales of the predecessor and Sony will never make money with it. There is no other way than to accredit that Sony is THE loser this gen. This is no flamebait, this is just reality. You have to see it from macro-prespective.

Of course Nintendo is THE winner. From last place last gen, to close to 50% market share is awesome. And the DS was never as brilliant as it is today. The Wii might sell 500% - 600% more than the Gamecube.

MS did very well. They will break even with the 360 very soon and they will sell 150% more consoles than last gen. Xbox Live continues to grow. In a few months, there will be more Xbox Live users than the original Xbox sold consoles.

In the article he mentions 31 million PS3s and 39 million 360s, that's an 8 million gap.  He's talking about sold to retail but why would someone from Sony lowball their numbers?  If anything they usually round up so it leads me to believe that either he's incredibly misinformed or Sony might not have sold as much last quarter as everyone expected.  Of course it could also mean he isn't in the loop with updated internal numbers and if that's the case then he probably should be the last person we should be listening to about this subject.

By all means the PS3 fanboys should be happy if/when the PS3 takes second place. I for one think it will and ill even go so far to say it already has, you can't ignore a years head start in my book.

But this guys correct. I have said it before and I'll say it again. Sony is by far the biggest loser this gen. Again please sony fans don't get mad at us stating the facts. I own one and love it as its a great console but this is reality.

The allmighty PS2 was released holiday 2000. It is by far the most successful console ever.
The PS2 sold 12 million in the past two years. You expect the PS3 to outsell the PS2 by almost 100% in this point of its lifecycle?!
