Forums - Sony Discussion - GameSpot: White Knight Chronicles Review - 6.0

I was only expecting a metacritic score in the 70s (probably low 70s) and this review only seems to confirm that eventually happening.

Looks like I'll stick to my original plan of passing on this game. If the reviews were 'good' (good=metacritic of high 70's) then I may have considered getting it but from the looks of things, my money is better spent elsewhere.

not pointing you out... but am always shocked over how power ppl let reviews and numbers have... these ppl may not have your taste all,

The thing is I was never interested in this game in the first place. However, if the reviews were high enough I'd consider 'giving it a go'. Given I don't have enough money to buy every game, I obviously have to choose some games over other games, and if that means using reviews as a guideline to make my decisions, so be it.

Also, WKC is essentially a 1 year old game, that will be selling for full price. Standards/expectations rise over time (thank Uncharted 2 among other games for that). What chance does it have agaisnt games that are essentially 12 months ahead of it.

Edge review will be 8.5/10. Just to screw with people's heads.

Non-FF JRPGs have a hard enough time getting traction in the West, if this ends up at a B level review average it's gonna make it doubly hard.

I've always thought Gamespot reviewed games reasonably well. Mostly their review scores correlate with my opinion of games I've played. Or at least they aren't wildly off the mark.

Interesting the Gamespot users are giving it 9.0, and their collected critic average is 7.5. Are Gamesport often outliers among reviewers?

When this game was first announced, I optimistically hoped it'd be Level 5's best game yet.

I was quite wrong.

But looks the pros and compare them to WKC. Hell, GameSpot didn't even give one good game emblem to WKC.

The Good

  • A long, epic tale in a fascinating new fantasy world
  • Fun, uniquely strategic battle system
  • Gorgeous musical score
  • Beautiful art design.
@Boutros, I wanted to trick you, but Torillian ruined the fun.

Why? What happened? I wanna know!

Bad bad Torillian. He's going to give WKC a bad score is that it?! Noo!

I wish I had checks on me!

I wanted to trick you or Rick Roll you by posting a fake link for the IGN review (I said they gave it a 6.5), but the link was actually for Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give you up music video. Oh well, at least I rick roll'd Tor.

I'm Gameflying this game now; I usually get them a day or two after they ship. $60 isn't exactly pocket change.

Oh ok lol

Depends on the game.  Usually they're pretty average, but their 7.5 for R&C: Tools of Destruction and 8.8 for Twilight Princess were some of the lowest scores the two recieved.

ITT: People let reviews decide what they should play for them.

I admit I was never going to get this game from the get go as it reminded me too much of FF12 but at the same time, it seems everyone here is dropping off just because of one review? How about you give the game a rental or something and who knows, it might surprise you
