Neither is the script. I don't care too much, but I personally don't consider any film the best of any year if it doesn't have top notch performances and/or a top notch script. Avatar's award nominations remind me of Memoirs of a Geisha, where it's all bread and no meat.

I'll be pulling for The Hurt Locker, Up and Precious myself.

well seece thats good cus not one of the actors delivered a stellar performance imo.

I have this horrible feeling that Precious will win.. I sure hope not..

Actually, I really felt like Zoe Saldana did a fantastic job in Avatar, just as I thought Andy Serkis did a wonderful job in Two Towers/Return of the King. But I suppose that the role wasn't something the Academy was looking for. Still, the part put her in the Hollywood limelight, so congrats to her.

Anywho, I'm quite disappointed that Star Trek got snubbed from the Best Picture nomination. It was a great film, but what can ya do (Let it replace The Blind Side? )?

But what I'm really hoping for is for Christoph Waltz to win Best Supporting Actor as Colonel Hans Landa and for James Horner to win Best Original Score. I'm also hoping that Up will win Best Animated Picture, but that's sort of a given (I Suppose Fantastic Mr. Fox is the dark horse).

Huh? She was in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Terminal, Star Trek, Vantage Point, and Guess Who. Something is telling me people recognized her before the role in Avatar.

That's why I said the limelight, of course she was known before Avatar. All I was saying is that she's becoming a household namen because of how big Avatar was, that's all. ^_^

Not too sure if I'm a fan of her being in Death at a Funeral. Not to say that it's going to be a bad movie... but I mean, people... just watch the original (that came out only a couple of years ago).

It's likely to do as much for her as it did for Andy Serkis in LOTR, which is a whole lot of nothing. If anything, Star Trek will put and keep her in the limelight.
