It would be cool,if this happened.
SHENMUE III for sale (as an exclusive)
Buy it Microsoft !! | 19 | 22.62%
Buy it Sony !! | 36 | 42.86% | |
Buy it Nintendo !! | 11 | 13.10%
I don't care about SHENMUE... | 18 | 21.43%
Total: | 84 |
I don't see Shenmue III having much sales potential on any console to be honest.
If Nintendo bought it and put their whole marketing machine behind it maybe.

I care about Shenmue, but don't have a preference to who would pick it up, so the voting options don't reflect my opinion.
Sorcery said: 1) It can't be for Xbox. The majority Dreamcast fans are definitely not Xbox fans, as we saw with the abysmal Shenmue II sales for Xbox. It infuriated me that Shenmue II was only on Xbox back then. 2) If you want to cut major costs and easily make a profit, make the game on the Wii. That way you can improve visuals and load times over the Dreamcast versions, while still copying over a lot of assets. Even if the game sold a measly 250k I could see it profiting if they used the Wii. 3) If they want a great looking game and potential for the most success, make it on the Playstation 3. Sony owners have a wide variety of gaming tastes, and would probably be more accepting than both the 360 and Wii audience. However, this would also increase risk of financial losses. |
The problem with the "majority of Dreamcast fans" isn't that they are not XBox fans, it is that there aren't enough of them to make an expensive project like Shenmue profitable. I do believe most did go to the XBox (certainly won't support Sony, who is the enemy, and Nintendo is an old enemy).

Yeah, you must be right genius, that's why Shenmue II sold very well in Japan and Europe, and not the US.
Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

Actually Richard, sales numbers show that most Dreamcast fans aren't Xbox fans. When Sega went third party last gen they arguably put their best titles on Xbox and they all tanked. Shenmue 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Future, etc all bombed. Sega games have sold the best on Nintendo platforms. This was true last gen despite the Gamecube getting the lowest quality Sega titles. Sega actually came out and admitted that their titles sold best on the Gamecube and the made a mistake by not giving it enough content. Even this gen that holds true. Their Sonic titles have sold much better on Wii than 360/PS3. Sega titles sell better on Sony platforms than MS platforms but still lag behind Nintendo platforms. This is inspite of Sega continuing to put their best efforts on non Nintendo platforms.
I think Yakuza on the PS3 proves there are plenty of fans (especially in Japan) who would welcome Shenumue3 with open arms. In Japan alone, it would be worth while for Sega and Sony to release Shenmue 3.
i don't think it should be on the Wii at all. Shenmue like i previosuly stated was an amazing genre defining game. Its visuals were amazing, even 5-6 years into the last generation. Sega cannot take a step back on its visual and audio quality. We must also understand that the previous 2 games came on 3 cd's and the Wii doesnt take dvds.
To make a true next gen Shenmue3 which lives up to its predessors, Sega need to make it without jeopardising any of its content and quality. The best place for this is the PS3. You have BR, 7.1 surround, gamers who already enjoy games such as Shenmue (Yakuza and heavy Rain) and do not mind purchasing games which are not your usual generic games.
