Thousand Year Door consistently made me laugh. And it's the only one I played. So I will pick that one.

There are all good games, but TYD is one of the best games ever.
I like Paper Mario for nostalgia.
I like Super Paper Mario for comedy.
I like Paper Mario TTYD for greatness, the one I like best.
"The Common Cold Isn't So Common During The Cold"
i loved both Paper Mario and PM:tTYD, and tTYD was my favorite, but then came Super Paper Mario... it was a huge departure from the series and i just couldn't get over that
had it been called something else, i would have had different expectations and probably enjoyed it. but it's too bad, i bought SPM and didn't even finish it...
HUGE contrast to when i spent LONG hours with PM:tTYD going down he 100 level dungeon place, and enjoyed every second of it (i'm one of those people who LIKES to grind and collect every ability/cool thing in an RPG).... i actually REPLAYED tTYD for god's sake (i'd never done that before)
The first one; is just awesome. They should make Paper Mario 3 for the wii
03/10/09 HUGE day in my life:
It's an extremely close call for me between TTYD and SPM but i'm going to have to go with the former. TTYD felt like something I'd never played before, and the way it all came together was just too perfect, the Bowser mini-stages were so worth it, Goombella is definitely one of my favorite characters, Chapter 6 (the train ride one) and Chapter 3 (Glitz Pit) were my favorites.
SPM i feel is an equally brilliant game, everyone slams it because its not turn based but it was just as awesome. The antagonists were simply amazing, Dimentio is one of a kind and i hope he returns like Fawful did in the Mario & Luigi games, Mimi was hilarious and so was Mr. L, oh and I've got to give a mention to the Brobot battle, genius, simply genius. The Pixl's were also too cool, Barry ftw. Not to mention i got to play as Bowser for most of the game, can't go wrong there.
The dialogue in both games were sublime.
I don't really know why but i didn't like Paper Mario 64 nearly as much as its sequels. It felt so slow and boring, and it wasn't nearly as funny or interesting, i did love Lady Bow though.
How technical is your game?

i literally got woozy for a sedcond (just a teensy bit) when i read that. God i miss the REAL paper Mario games
ooh if they announced that, it would instantly jump to my most anticipated title of ever regardless of what coming up (move over Zelda Wii 2010)
Super Paper Mario was not a favorite of mine. If I wanted humor, I'd go watch George Carlin videos on Youtube (which I already do anyways, but I'd do it instead). And talk about walking away from what made the series great. I hate that game.
I guess my favorite would be The Thousand Year Door, but they're all great (if we're including the Mario RPG on the SNES). It just seemed to perfect the different elements of the series that I loved (battle system, items, cooking, ESPECIALLY COOKING!!!). Plus, pineapple mafia anyone?
