Well, if you count the Main theme as opening, it's the answer I gave you. If you count the main theme as being anywhere in the game, it's FFIII, FFIX and FFX, since none of them had any connection to the original FF main theme.

Actually, i'm glad that you brought up that question.
One of the early points that was pointed against FFXIII, was that in addition of it not having the Battle Theme, it also didn't had the classic FF theme. Only now I realise how many FF's before it also didn't have it.

yeah many before didn't have it, playing FFVIII right now, I must say its very very linear. 
FFVIII is as linear as they get, until you get access to the Flying Balamb garden on CD 2 xD
