The story so far is OK. Some of the dialogs were corny. I played only 2 hours. So it's too early to judge. The battle system on the other hand is brilliant, especially when it gets more complex in chapter 3. You might find it boring in the first 2 chapters since you can't learn anything during those 2 chapters.

Graphically, the game is beautiful and the cut-scenes are impressive. Even on the Xbox 360. As for the music, it fits the game like a glove. The voice acting is good, except Vanille. She's extremely annoying.

I like Lightning so far. Snow is OK. Vanille is annoying. Not a big fan of Hope. And I LOVE Sazh.

Final Fantasy XIII is the kind of game that gets better with each minute. The first couple of minutes on Chapter 3 blows everything on Ch.1 and 2. Keep in mind that I'm only 2 hours and 20 minutes in.

Chapter 1 - 6.2/10 (sorry Darth)
Chapter 2 - 7.9/10

I played only 10-15 minutes of chapter 3. It's WAY better than the previous chapters. So don't worry.

Yeah FFX's start was AWFUL!

in that regard FF12's starting bits were very good (compared to 10).

I'm disappointed at how the game started.

I'll post my chapter 3 impression tomorrow.

I loved how FFX started (story-wise). Seeing some otherworldly being sucking up the entire city with Auron talking to it and telling Tidus that this was the start of his story REALLY had me interested in the plot.

The CGI was amazing ofcourse

but fightning those weird monsters on modern zanarkand, then being sucked up & being in that weird & dull place.

Then meeting Riku & going tot hat BOOOORING water cave.BOORING music.

The game TRULY began for me when we set foot outside Besaide on our way to the boat that takes ut to luca...that when they explained how to change members in battle & ofcourse thats when we FIRST heard the best FF Battle Theme EVER! I'm not sure how far into the game this was, a few hours I guess.

Then the amazing CGI cut scene with kimahri attacking tidus & then that fight.

After that the game remained awesome!

atleast Heavy rain makes the waiting go faster ^^ btw its an amazing game!

I had some crap to take care, but I hope to get past Chapter 5 and 6 today at least.

Enjoy your time, hopefully you'll give em 10's too (well the game "supposedly gets better" as you go along)

Honestly I think FFX had the weakest main antagonist and possibly the weakest soundtrack.. but it was a fantastic game.

I just replayed FF12 in anticipation for 13, just about to finish it :) I find something interesting about this game. The battle system is literally EXACTLY the same as dragon age origins. Infact, i'd say its pretty much an exact copy of the baulder's gate games too (same line as dragon age) Interesting that those games get praise for it, but this one gets hate for it..

Can't wait to fire up 13 when I get it. I ordered the PS3 version and the Limited Edition Piggyback guide, of course not for use with the game, just for the artwork and the alternative cover.

SO PUMPED!

getting resonance of fate too, and ultimate edition gow3 :D it's a busy month for me. Still cant get off BFBC2 PC version.

I've been listening to saber's edge all week. I think the gamespot review really covers what you should feel for this game. That being said, they were too easy on the 360 ver. it really is very ugly.

if you look at this map.. you can see that the linearity of the game is no worse than mass effect 2. And the RPG elements of the game are far deeper than mass effect 2... so I'd say, to all those who are worried about this game's RPG quality and linearity.. its no worse than ME2 or FFX. if you like those games you'll love it!

Yeah FF12 & DA:O are similar up to a certain extent......I liked FF12 more though!
