No it can recognize a lot more then that....It's probably your motherboard capping it. |
My motherboard actually supports up to 16 GB of ram. I must have the home basic version of Windows 7, since I seem to be maxing out at 8 GB right now. Besides, it will be a while before I ever fill up that much RAM at one time anyway.
Extra HDDs are best on Newegg or TigerDirect. Sometimes ZipZoomFly.
For that matter, ANY computer parts should be obtained via those sites. Always best selection at the lowest prices that way.
I've got an AMD Phenom II x4 at 3.0GHz/core factory clock speed, 8GB RAM, ~2TB storage, and an ATI Radeon HD4670. Not the best, but it does absolutely everything I want and I've got it running at an ultra-cool 36-40º C across the board. Bought almost every part on Newegg and probably spent half what you did on your PC.

8 GB of RAM!? HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!
CatFangs806 said: Upgrading to 16 GB is pretty much useless, as Windows 7 64bit can only use up to 8 GB. It's a problem on my new computer. I can't understand why Windows only can recognize only so much ram. |
Windows 7 can recognize upto 192gbs of ram unless you are using the basic or starter version.if you are using 64-bit then you should be using atleast professional win7
The following table specifies the limits on physical memory for Windows 7.
Version | Limit in 32-bit Windows | Limit in 64-bit Windows |
---|---|---|
Windows 7 Ultimate |
4 GB |
192 GB |
Windows 7 Enterprise |

192 GB |
Windows 7 Professional |

Windows 7 Home Premium |

Windows 7 Home Basic |

8 GB |
Windows 7 Starter |

does it really take posting the same table 3 times?

Yes.

I would say apparently it does to get the point across.

Quoting this for truth. You could have saved a hundred bucks or more with no performance loss by buying an i5 750 instead. (Seriously - the i5 performs identical to the i7-860 in most games, and even slightly outperforms it in some.)
The GTS 250 is terrible for the price. You could've bought a Radeon 4850, a more powerful card, for less money, or a 5770 (which runs circles around the 250) for just a little more.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
