Haha I've quite liked the FFs so far so a game similar for the Wii would be excellent. ^^

I want something more like Final fantasy V, lighthearted.
It wouldn't surprise me if Last Story ends up being very much like Final Fantasy. I've heard the Wii equated to the NES, so I'm guessing that the series will start out well on Wii and "Super Wii", and then permanently migrate to Playstation 6 by the time the 7th iteration comes out.
New theory: Gaming is cyclical.

ohh I know fantasy does equal to story, but that's why I wrote story = fantasy [story].....because that's what FF is. It's a fantasy story.

Hopefully Nintendo's been working closely with them and will probably make it into a quality jrpg, unlike the cinematic crap we get now.

How was V lighthearted? the world was still in jeopardy at the hands of a madman.
Armageddon is a theme that could never be taken lightheartedly.

Sure it can. Compare the movies "Armageddon" and "The Road". One of those is lighthearted and the other is not.
I can't really comment on Final Fantasy V or the newer games, but armageddon is not really an inherently serious theme because the average joe can't wrap his head around it. Something like murder or rape is a much more serious theme because it's personal...although a fair number of black comedies have turned murder around. Still, armageddon? It's a topic you can easily play with to either extreme especially if the negative outcome can still be prevented by your heroes - as it always can be in most video games.

But the reality that any being can be so deranged to bring about so many deaths turns anything from a happy and light hearted theme to a dark one, because the notion of the character's insanity is kept automatically turning it from G to PG-13
