Forums - General - So Ive joined the HD format war with an A2

@ Fishy Joe

Thanks for stopping the trolling before it got bad.

And I hear you on Enter the Dragon. I actually have that and Hidden Fortress (if anyone loves Star Wars, you owe it to yourself to watch HF) off of the Kung Fu Channel on DiSH. I also have PIG (Xtreme sports in HD) and nature channels, so I will hold off on getting that Planet Earth. Give me the Jack Ryan collection!

@ Fried Tofu

Welcome to the fam. I have an HD A2 too, but I get it open box, and I did get two movies, but not the 5 free ones. And I'm looking for a remote. I am gonna pick one up today. Regardless, enjoy it - and check out xploitedcinema.com for some good Blu Ray exclusives that are available outside of the U.S. as HD DVDs ...

@ KGB29

Don't you have a Wal-Mart to stalk and creep out potential HD DVD buying customers?

Cool, Awsome news, as long as you get a ps3 im very happy. Was it a plasnma or LCD?!?! If its plasma you fail.

Yes, technically HD-DVD now has a storage advantage over Blu Ray. But it's not significant. What is significant, however, is that people are choosing HD-DVD instead of buying a console and discovering it has BD. Mind you, that's a discovery that 60% of PS3 owners apparently don't make.

Wow. I finally believe that KGB29 actually went to a Wal-mart at yelled at people to not get HD-DVD players. He really does seem that crazy.

Planet Earth was AMAZING. It truly shows the potential of High Definition. It's highly recommended you pick it up. watch the video intro on amazon, and imagine it in pristine clear image. :)

Another recommendation, if you have great sound system, pick up Face Off. The sound on that thing was AMAZING, and video quality was awesome too. Highly recommended.  Oh, and don't forget Mission Impossible III.   Funny thing is that these two, plus transformers all are 2 disc editions.  Well worth your money with TONS of extras. :D

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

@leo-j:

What's with the anti-plasma trolling? Do you have to be a fanboy in every area of consumer electronics?

Hates Nomura.

I would suggest you checkout netflix if it is available where you are located. They charge the same price whether you are renting DVD, HD DVD, or Blu-ray. Its an awesome deal.

I just picked up the A2 during the Walmart blowout and have not been disappointed. The picture and sound are fantastic. The most surprising thing for me is how much better standard DVDs look using it. It really does a great job with upscaling.

I had put Netflix on a 3-month pause, but I realized it was resuming this week. And boy - have I flooded my queue with tons of crap. I should get my 3 movies shortly ... sweet!

I also did some trades on high-def digest for the Ultimate Matrix - but I am gonna flip Matrix Revolutions, Matrix Reloaded and the bonus HD DVD - maybe ...

I also bought both Bournes, and I am getting the latest one next month.

 absolutely false.

Well, I picked up Transformers and wow, I love it. I did notice that it still had -small- black bars at the top and bottom of my wide screen so I guess this movie was filmed in something even wider than 16x9. Is that common? I really wanted Shrek 3 but I guess its not out yet.

I also picked up Van Helsing and will be ordering Planet Earth online (saves about $10 over retail). Everyone seems to agree its damn breathtaking. Some coworkers of mine raved about it.

@ Delusional, I checked out that Amazon stream and I was sold!

@ Madskillz, yah I would flip those Matrix movies too

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )
