Do not try to learn every skillset, plan carefully at the beginning what you want to do with each character and what skills you want to learn. MP Thief (with Ancient God Mantra) is a must for every character

It is a fantastic game and if you plan on getting DDS2 remember to keep the save (because it gives you perks for DDS2 like bonus atma to buy new abilities and such).  Remember to try and always keep that characters weakness  void in your abilities so that it does not cost you rounds.  If you do not understand what that means, DDS allows extra turns when a character or enemy can exploit a weakness.  Hit a enemy that is weak against fire and you can acquire extra turn slots.  Great game and very addictive.

Yeah, looking to get more into the SMT series and am deciding to try DDS now. I've listened to the music for both DDS1 and DDS 2 is awesome. Can't wait to get this game and also DDS2 later.

Any tips or something? I'll be updating this thread for my playthrough.

Tips? I have two.

Get very apt at the press turn system - DDS and Nocturnes battle system. A half turn is as good for executing an action as a full one. The order of your party members is also very crucial for your battle tactics. DDS is much harder than Persona, tactics and patterns are absolutely crucial. DDS2 is harder.

The second one is an indirect derivative of the first. You played Persona, right? Exploit your enemies' weaknesses. That makes them easier to devour and also gives you an extra half-turn.

Congrats on ordering this appetizer for DDS2 which is 10x the game that DDS is.

Oh also some of the best abilities are under the death God or Dark God skill set like others have said. Make sure you have a healer, this goes without saying. This game looks great upscaled by the ps3. Good luck:0)

Oh yeah, with the press turn, the Pass command is a must to master, sometimes you have to pass so other character can execute a command, learn to use it well

Congrats for getting one of the best games ever. Be sure to get the second game next.

Get SMT: Nocturne too, it's even better.

Make sure you have a weakness voider... one lucky hit by an enemy/boss, and you could be fucked up the... you know...

I'll say up the... Serph. Sorry, Avarice.

1. It's hard.

2. The story isn't that good, however, DDS2's story is the second best on the PS2 (XS3's story is the best).

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Nah, the best party is Serph/Heat/Argilla, Gale when you need his abilities can replace Argilla.
Argilla is basicly a powerhouse in magic, so you'd be glad to use her.
Cielo is pretty much useless in the first game, he's useful for maybe the first time you get him, not so much after that. His weakness is all the ailments in the game(lame).
