The GTA franchise has never been in sync with playstation, and is NOT a used to be must buy playstation franchise..
GTA WAS ON THE XBOX since it went 3d..
GTA IV was going to be ps3 exclusive sure, but SONY let it go multiplatform because ROCKSTAR has issues money wise, but at the same time rockstar gave sony an exclusive franchise, s
Look it up, JACK TRETTON was blabbering on about it..
o I dont know what's worse? Getting GTA IV on the ps3 regardless, and then getting a future franchise that may end up being more innovative than GTA, or having GTA IV exclusive on the platform, just to get ps2 owners to jump on ship with the ps3.

Correction my friend, GTA's on Xbox came a year later.
I'm not wrong, GTA III, GTA VICE CITY, and GTA SAN ANDREAS were on XBOX. Doesn't matter if they came out a year later.
it wasn't a waste, im sure if microsoft had not payed for the DLC, there would be no DLC, rockstar has very big money issues before GTA IV came out
It worked in MS' favor for a couple of years. The 360 might be behind the PS3 in sales right now if everyone knew for sure from the start the dlc was coming to the PS3.
It's 50 mil down the drain. They could have spent that money making an actual exclusive game.
Think of it this way then. Thats 50 million spent, which they either:
A. Got paid back if the figure was not met (means they made NOTHING)
B. Got paid back the 50million + other royalties from higher sales
C. Lost if the 50million number was not met (if it wasnt a "loan")
Either way, MS could not have made very much off of this deal. Sony on the other hand, kept the franchise + a new IP + its royalty sales for nothing. From a monetary standpoint on the game itself + dlc, Sony came out the winner. From a brand standpoint, MS is the winner due to the game now being multiplat from now on (I assume). Basically, short term Sony wins the monetary battle, but long term MS wins since the next installment will not require MS to pay a dime.
