Apple's iPad tablet computer will be available in March starting at $499, but it already has sparked a range of questions about how it will work. The touch-screen multimedia device uses the same operating system as Apple's popular iPhone and can access the 140,000 apps available to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Interesting that it's more or less an iPhone / iPod touch with an e-book reader that won't fit in your pocket.

Oh well I've never been an iFan, doesn't seem to be much reason to start now.

Congrats to Apple and Jobs for making another device that will sell very well and make them a lot of money.

Not very interested in this thing. IMO, $499 US dollars just became the new $599 US dollars...

Eh looks absolutely pointless. I was thinking the same thing when they annonced it. ITs a freakin huge version of the iphone

I have a first generation nano and was never interested in the iphone, ipod touch, or any other ipod technology. This $499 dollar contraption does not appeal to me and I cannot imagine who it would. I do think that those guys at apple have completely lost what little genius they have left.

If they can make a portable device that is simply a super-sized version of an existing portable device with not a great deal more functionality, but considerably less portability; and they can price it significantly higher than the existing device; and they can generate a crap load of free advertising (tech media hype); and they can get people to buy it in sufficient quantities to make a tidy profit from it then that IS genius.

I guess the only remaining unknown is whether the sales will happen. I think there is a big enough crowd that love iStuff for Apple to do well with this device.

I'm just waiting for the iDildo that plays porno music while you "play"; now that would be genius.
