Forums - General Discussion - RIP JD Salinger

Was sleeping in with the TV on... and his announcement of his death on PTI literally woke me up.

I'll miss the guy... didn't read any of his stuff in highschool or college... ended up doing it afterwords.   I really liked his books... and most interesting of all I found was his take on religion.

In a lot of ways it felt like every main character he wrote about was him.

I'll miss him and that last book that hopefully will never come out... I'm not a fan of authors works coming out unfinished after they've died...

Even when they're good it's kinda like having sex halfway then stopping.  In some ways it's WORSE if it's good because it's uncompleted.

According to his daughter he drank his own urine.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.  He did seem pretty crazy.

What was he supposed to do, drink somebody else's? That would be disgusting.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

Huh, thought we had more literature readers on here based on previous threads.

His death will probably cause a bunch of movie studios to fight for the rights to produce a Catcher in the Rye movie. He denied permission for a movie adaptation at various times throughout his life. It's kind of freaky to think about these companies patiently waiting for him to die.

RIP to a great author...

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

I'm not going to lie, I actually thought he died many years ago. Still, this is very sad news.

I have never read any of his books, but my friend was a huge fan. I might give Catcher in the rye a go now; people seem to love that book.

I only read Catcher in the Rye and I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about it.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

I read about it in the paper this morning.

Sad to hear, I guess. I've heard about so many big deaths lately that I'm starting to not care.
